How do we collaborate successfully when learning online?
With thanks and acknowledgement to the Acando presentation in OpenEd 2.0 Module 1

• One way to categorise is based on the tools themselves
• Another way to categorise is based on what they do for us?
What is Web 2.0 anyway?Read-write instead of read only
Re-usable, remixableSimple and social
........so email, static websites - even discussion forums - are only one way
When you have read-write, you have collective intelligence! Although, I believe you can achieve much collective intelligence from
discussion forums.........
We collaborate when we go beyond one way communication, beyond one way interaction, and work together on a goal.
Collaboration always has a specific purpose.
Collaboration means all coming together to drive a consensus. Each person has a contribution to make and a perspective to contribute. In a collaborative culture,
we’re not scared of making mistakes. We give it a go on a trial and error basis and figure it out together.
These are some advantages of good collaborative tools
It takes time to move from Me 1.0 to Me 2.0 !!!There is a lot of learning and experimenting involved.
Challenges for collaborative learning using Web 2.0?
I believe that the challenges listed above for enterprises and businesses are pretty much the same when trying to encourage
collaboration in online learning.
