The Nitty Gritty (specifics)
• Unit 1: Mythical WorldsIn the first half of the year students will explore the myths of Ancient Greece and Rome.This topic will be broken up into three different areas of study : Heroes and Monsters, Myth and Archaeology and Myths in Art and Literature.
By the end of Unit 1 students will be expected to be able to:
• Explain the nature of ancient myth.• Clarify the relationship between myth and
archaeology.• Discuss different representations of Greek and
Roman Myths
• Unit 2: Classical Imaginations
In the second half of the year students examine classical works, exploring the material, political and intellectual life of Classical Greece and Rome.Areas of Study: Society through Culture and Classics Through Time
- exploring the ways in which classical works have inspired later visionaries or caused violent reactions
