opened a water treatment facility at the confluence of the Cache la Poudre River and its North Fork tributary. To learn more pick up the History of Gateway Natural Area brochure available at the gate station and kiosks.
Seaman Reservoir (owned by the City of Greeley) is seen in the distance from the Black Powder Trail.
Hikers enjoy the scenery from the Black Powder Trail.
Recent large fires (Picnic Rock in 2004 and Hewlett Gulch and High Park in 2012) have burned portions of Gateway Natural Area. Fire scars, standing dead trees (snags), and new green growth are evident.
