Non-Regular Classes Involving Multiple Dog Entries
STUD DOG CLASS – For Stud Dogs and a minimum of two, maximum of four of their Get. It is

duce for Get. As the judge's decision in the Stud Dog & Brood Bitch classes will be based on the merits of more than one dog or bitch, no one of the dogs or bitches making up the entry judged first in the class will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed by virtue of having won either of these classes.

AKC National Owner‐Handled Series • Exhibitors must declare their dog AKC National Owner‐Handled Series eligible at the time of entry using the check box on the entry form. • The handler must be an owner of record according to the AKC’s records as of the date of the show. Dogs may be co‐owned with a professional handler but not shown by a professional handler as described further in this document. • Dogs declared eligible will be identified by an asterisk in the steward’s book and in the show catalog. • *Professional handlers, household members and current assistants to professional handlers may not exhibit. A current assistant is defined as anyone employed by a professional handler on a full‐time basis, or, assisting a professional handler at the show or any show during the cluster/weekend. • Dogs must be handled by an owner‐handler eligible for the AKC National Owner‐Handled Series throughout the breed level competition for the regular show. This includes the class competition and subsequent competition in the breed ring. Additionally, dogs must be handled by an eligible owner‐handler for all AKC National Owner‐Handled Series competition. • The Owner‐Handled Best of Breed will be selected from the eligible dogs that competed in the Best of Breed/Variety competition for the regular show. This includes Winners Dog, Winners Bitch, and the undefeated winners of the non‐regular classes. This excludes all dogs defeated during class and winners competition for the regular show.
Breed judging for the AKC National Owner‐Handled Series is conducted following Best of Breed judging in each breed ring. All dogs in the BOB competition (including WD & WB) will stay in the ring after the judge makes their placements in BOB competition. The ring steward will ask all professional handlers, household members of and current assistants to a professional handler, and any exhibitor that did not indicate on their entry that they were eligible for the AKC National Owner‐Handled Series to leave the ring and then the judge will then select the Owner‐Handled Best of Breed. A dog being “cut” or otherwise “defeated” in the Best of Breed ring remains eligi‐ble to compete in the AKC National Owner‐Handled Series. The Owner‐Handled Best of Breed will be selected from the eligible exhibits based on the program guidelines and procedures.
Judging of the breed/variety for the regular show may determine the dog that is awarded Owner‐Handled Best of Breed. Please follow these guidelines: • If the Best of Breed/Variety winner of the regular show is eligible for the AKC National Owner ‐Handled Series competition, it will also be awarded Owner‐Handled Best of Breed. In this case the dog will be eligible to compete in group competition for the regular show and group competition for the AKC National Owner‐Handled Series. • If the regular show Best of Breed/Variety winner is not eligible for AKC National Owner‐ Handled Series competition and the regular show Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/ Variety is eligible, the regular show Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/Variety will compete against the eligible exhibits of the other sex to determine Owner‐Handled Best of Breed. • If neither the Best of Breed nor the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/Variety from the regular show is eligible for the AKC National Owner‐Handled Series competition and both the Select Dog and Select Bitch are eligible, the judge is to choose Owner‐Handled Best of Breed from the Selects and any eligible Winners Dog or Winners Bitch. • If one of the Selects from the regular show is eligible for AKC National Owner‐Handled Series competition, excuse all eligible champions and non‐regular class winners of the same sex and then choose Owner‐Handled Best of Breed from the remaining eligible dogs of the opposite sex including the eligible Winners. • If the regular show Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed, Select Dog & Select Bitch are not eligible, the judge may choose any eligible dog who competed in Best of Breed including Winners Dog or Winners Bitch as the Owner‐Handled Best of Breed.
If no dog remaining in the ring is eligible for the AKC National Owner‐Handled Series competition, Owner‐Handled Best of Breed will not be awarded.
*Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a professional handlers’ organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay or received payment for handling a dog within the last five years.

CCA GUIDELINES FOR HOTEL/MOTEL MAINTENANCE
Because some dog people have been irresponsible in safeguarding property of hotels, it is in‐creasingly difficult to secure suitable housing for our shows, our members and our dogs. For this reason the CCA is issuing the following guidelines for exhibitors to ensure that we are welcomed at hotels/motels.
1. If dogs are exercised in the rooms, this must be done in exercise pens. Do not blockade the bathroom or closet, for example to accomplish this. To set up exercise pens, use heavy
plas c that is provided in the Welcome Bag as a base, with mul ple layers of newspapers on top, then place the exercise pen on top of the papers. NO SHAVINGS, PELLETS OR ANY
OTHER MATERIAL OTHER THAN PAPER WILL BE ALLOWED. The heavy duty plas c is pulled up above the "piddle" line about 8 to 10 inches and secured with clips or clothes pins. Soiled papers must be removed and placed in plas c bags for ease of disposal. Do not expect the housekeepers to have to touch any soiled papers, and soiled papers must not be merely placed in wastepaper baskets, as the scent of excreta and urine will penetrate the wastebas‐kets. All rooms must be kept clean and smell clean. This protects curtains and furniture.
2. When dogs are le alone in the rooms, they must be le in their individual crates. Even
"unclimbing" dogs have been known to climb out of their exercise pens when le in strange areas. And "digging" dogs have dug their way through their plas c and con nued digging through the carpe ng. This requirement of keeping dogs in their crates thus protects the animals from escaping while housekeepers come in, and of course, protects the furnishings.
3. Dogs must not be allowed to run free in the room, whether the owner is present or not. Many a good dog becomes suddenly unhousebroken when it encounters strange odors in
strange places 4. Owners/exhibitors should bring their own toweling for bathing the dogs. Hotel/Motel equip‐
ment must not be used for cleaning up accidents, owners/exhibitors must provide their own cleanup material...paper towels, vinegar, Fantas c, and the like.
5. Most hotels/motels that permit the use of their facili es for dog shows have a policy limi ng
the number of dogs allowed per room. There will be a maximum of 8 dogs per room. This will be strictly enforced.
6. No dogs will be allowed on any carpe ng, including lobby rugs, halls, guest rooms, show
room, etc. 7. No exercising of dogs (outside) in any areas, except those areas posted with signs as dog
areas. Each person is responsible for cleaning up a er their dog, inside and outside of the motel.
8. No dogs allowed outside of their crates, unless in an x‐pen w/plas c, or in the show ring. 9. No dogs allowed in the lounge, lobby, banquet/mee ng rooms and restaurants. 10. Dogs MUST BE carried in and out through designated exits/entrances only. 11. The only breed of dog that is allowed in the hotel will be chihuahuas. No other animals will
be allowed. 12. Rooms must be made available for maids to clean daily. Do not disturb signs will not be hon‐
ored during the day.
