2019 Summer Enrichment Camp Information
Camp Weeks:
Week 1: June 24 - June 28 Week 2: July 8 - July 12 Week 3: July 15 - July 19 Week 4: July 22- July 26 Week 5: July 29 - Aug. 2 Camp Location*: Maurice J. McDonough High School 7165 Marshall Corner Rd. Pomfret, MD
*Kindergarten camps held at Dr. James Craik Elementary School and some cooking camps held at Westlake High School.
Camp sessions last 3 hours/day for 5 days.
Camp sessions offered in the morning (8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.) and afternoon (12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.). Activity time, including free lunch, for campers attending both morning and afternoon sessions for $10.00/week to cover supervision.
Cost for each camp session - $90.00*

Learn all about space using hands on STEM activities. Explore the many wonders of the universe beyond our reach.
Secret Spy Camp
Come join the fun solving mysteries using fingerprints, footprints, and other spy tools. Search for clues to uncover the “who” or “what” did it.
Sight Words Galore
Come out and join us for some fun while practicing your sight words with hands-on activities. Games such as sight word Twister, basketball, ring toss, and pool noodles will make you feel confident and strengthen your reading. Come join the fun while becoming a better reader.
Create Your Own Music
Did you know most songs are poetry put to music? Here you will create poetry and music to all different genres of music. This will be a fun filled week of creating and sharing various methods of musical expressions.
Environmental Etiquette
Lessen your environmental footprint on your community and world. Learn about how you can help keep your surroundings clean and beautiful through fun activities. Become an advocate for your environment’s health.
Powerful Presentations
You will find engaging ways to present information for school or home using the latest technology. Have fun creating and developing interactive presentations to wow your audience.
Ready, Set, Dance!
Get ready to move and groove during this camp session. Learn different styles of dance like ballet, jazz, and hip hop. At the end of the week, you will put on a rehearsed showcase of your talent. No experience necessary.
Baking by Chocolate
Do you LOVE chocolate? Come and join us and make chocolate candies and desserts! Each day you will discover how chocolate adds flavor to everything you eat!

Create your own video games to play on your phone or computer at home. Learn new technology skills while having fun coding in this interactive, hands-on computer skill camp.
Summer Band Camp
Don’t let your musical talents go idle over the summer. Come out with other students to play new music and learn new skills. Fun musical games will also be enjoyed. Perform a mini-concert on the last day of camp.
Painting for All
Come and create beautiful and colorful landscapes using acrylic paints in this free style painting class. You don’t have to be an artist like VanGogh or Picasso to enjoy creating your own masterpiece.
Track and Field Olympians
Do you have what it takes to be the next Charles County Olympian? Come learn the basics of track and field events and participate in a track meet. Create your own country flag and form an alliance with other campers for a final Track and Field Olympics meet.
Lunch Activity Time is available for those students staying for an afternoon camp session. For an extra $10.00 they will be served a hot lunch and have an activity time in between their morning and afternoon camp sessions.

Get outside and use nature to inspire creative crafts. Make leaf prints, rock pets, friendship bracelets, bird nests and more! You will have fun learning the wonders of nature and turning them into creative crafts.
Future Scientists
The wonderful world of science is all around you. Have fun this camp session doing science experiments, and participate in games and activities all for the young scientist.
Challenge Accepted!
Come join this camp if you want to learn ways to use different materials to build structures like bridges, towers, shoes and more! This STEM camp will have you racing against the clock as you accept the “challenge.”
Breakout Busters
Use clues, riddles, and brain teasers to unlock a different mystery every day. Students will work in small groups to complete Breakout Box activities as they try to solve the mystery. Put your problem solving skills to use as you create your own breakout box!
Powerful Presentations
Find engaging and fascinating ways to present information using the latest technology in power point, Prezi, and more. Have fun creating and develop-ing interactive presentations to wow your audience.
Coding for Kids
Create your own games, art, and digi-tal stories that you can share. This is a great way for you to have fun while coding with other students who enjoy computers.
Breakfast and Baking Bonanza
Test your skills in the kitchen as you will learn how to make some breakfast favorites and delicious desserts. Practice your decorating skills with cupcakes and decorated sugar cookies.

This week you will have fun using your problem solving, creativity, and collaboration skills to solve real world engineering design problems. Hands-on activities like building towers, bridges, catapults, and more will keep you busy and engaged while having fun.
Clay Creations
Have fun making different types of clay and/or dough each day. You will then mold it into creations such as beads, pots, animals, and more!

The wonderful world of science is all around you. Have fun in this camp session doing science experiments, participating in games and activities focused on becoming a young scientist.

Do you feel like you need a break from chores, siblings, and more? Enter this stress free zone where you will be taught how to align your body, mind, and spirit with simple yoga practices. Become a warrior, not a worrier!

Create your own DIY crafts that will have you engaged and entertained during this week of fun. Create items such as bracelets, dreamcatchers, tie dye items, and more!

Get ready for kindergarten as you learn and practice the daily routines to start your first year off on the right foot. You will have fun learning and practicing your skills such as sight words, phonics, patterns, and more.

Salsa Into Spanish Language Culture
Learn all about the Spanish culture including holidays, food, dances, language and more. We will explore and dance our way through the Spanish culture with foods and crafts.
Volleyball FUNdamentals
Like to play volleyball? You will work on all the skills needed to help better your games. Skills such as ball-control, setting and fundamental skills will all be practiced while having fun.
Coding for Kids
Create your own games, art, and digital stories that you can share. This is a great way for you to have fun while coding with other students that enjoy computers.
Beginners Cooking Camp
Want to learn more about cooking and preparing meals? This camp will cover a little bit of everything for beginners from food preparation, measuring following a recipe, and more. Best of all you will be cooking delicious recipes.

Ukelele Garage Band
If you like music, you will love making music while playing the ukulele. You will use Apple’s Garage Band app to make your own music while learning basic chords playing the ukulele. All materials and instruments will be provided.

Look beyond just reading your favorite fairy tales. This camp will have you going into the fairy tale world by creating fun art projects and STEAM challenges to solve problems focused on the fairy tale.

Learn about the bizarre oddities and events that are part of our past. Mysterious artifacts, macabre legends, kooky inventions, and mind-blowing facts are a part of history not typically taught in Social Studies.
Music Around the World
Learn and play music from around the world. Play in a drum circle, create cultural art, and experience different cultures and traditions through music.
Fitness for Fun

Make a difference through diversity. Campers will participate in activities and games while learning about other cultures. Activities will include team building events, cultural influences, and understanding the community around you.
Creative Crafters/Sewers
Do you know how to sew? Do you want to learn? Come and create different projects such as a pillow case, phone charger, drawstring bag, and more.
Just Sweets
Create yummy sweet treats for your friends, family, or even just for yourself! Learn how to follow a recipe and safely bake some delicious sweet treats!

Design and build your own bottle rocket to set off at the end of the week. Work with recycled materials as you prepare a cost analysis. See whose rocket will soar the highest!

Explore the art world the way you see things while at the same time learning different techniques. Practice various forms of art from painting, drawing, string, rope, and chain art. Learn techniques on the art of photography using a camera, phone, or tablet.

Create yummy sweet treats for your friends, family, or even just for yourself! Learn how to follow a recipe and safely bake some delicious sweet treats!

This is your opportunity to create your own personalized body and skincare scents. Learn how to create the perfect soap, lotion, lip balm, and perfume that screams your name. With just a few natural products you can make your own products with your created scents.

Breakout Busters
Use clues, riddles, and brain teasers to unlock a different mystery everyday. Students will work in small groups to complete Breakout Box activities as they try to solve the mystery. Put your problem solving skills to use as you create your own breakout box!

This is your opportunity to create your own personalized body and skincare scents. Learn how to create the perfect soap, lotion, lip balm, and perfume that screams your name. With just a few all natural products you can make your own products with your created scents.
