Introducing ……….
Dr Ann Hodgson (UK) Ragglebarn OES I have owned OES since 1972, initially as pets, we then got interested in Obedience and had a successful run with our first bitch who was also our first Show bitch.
I bred 4 litters out of which 2 became Norwegian Champions, 1 Swedish Champion, 1 Finnish Champion, 1 UK Champion with several others gaining CCs.
We also bought our first Hungarian Puli from the famous Borgvaal Kennels, he became the first British Bred Male Champion in the UK.
For many years I served on the Hungarian Puli Club Committee, the Greater London OES Committee serving 8 years as Chairperson.
Presently I own 4 OES, one of which is a Champion. My young bitch has 4 RCCs and her son of 4 months will hopefully see the show ring in the Autumn.
I am the Breed Education co-ordinator for OES with the KC new judges training framework and working hard with my helper Mel Leggett to improve the training of judges.
I am particularly interested in Movement and Conformation in the Dog and have given a number of talks on same to several clubs around the South and Midlands.
I give CCs in 3 breeds, OES, Hungarian Pulis and Samoyeds and have had the honour of judging in many countries and of course the highlight of my judging was to award CCs at Crufts 2019.
I look forward to judging for the South Australian Old English Sheepdog Club
and meeting exhibitors and their dogs.

GR CH ABBOTTHALL ROYAL RASCAL (Imp NZ) (ZIGGY)
Whelped: 18/11/2011 Sire: NZ Ch Hartwyn Your Highness (Imp Aust) Dam: NZ Ch Abbotthall A Kings Ransom Bred by: Mrs F Birbeck Owner: Mrs KA Baxter
When I was a teenager I had always wanted to have an Old English Sheepdog. About 10 years ago I started to look for one seriousIy, I tried to find one in Australia but I eventually contacted Fiona Birbeck from Abbotthall Kennels in New Zealand and subsequently Ziggy arrived in our lives in January 2012.
Ziggy has a wonderful, relaxed and friendly nature. He has always interacted well with other breeds with one special friendship being his relationship with China, our American Staffordshire Terrier when he was a baby puppy. Although he enjoyed showing and doing the odd Dulux promotion, Ziggy loves nothing better being with his family. One very special aspect of his nature is his rapport with children, from hijacking children at the Royal Show to say hello, to the very special attention he currently gives my grandson Casey. A very special boy.
BOBBYSOX SUMMERTIME BLUES (BERGER)
Whelped: 25 January 2010 Sire: Bobbysox Moon Rider Dam: Bobbysox Moroccan Kiss Breeder: Evelyn Copley Owner: Susan Caracoussis
Berger chose his forever home on Saturday 24th April 2010, when we set our eyes on him, and he just clicked with us and walked off without a farewell to his mum. This was rectified over the years and he is certainly his late mother, Izzie's boy, with his gentle soul and loving nature.
Outings have always been important to him and he is well known at Pave Cafe and several shops along the Parade. Whilst his favourite treats are steak, toast and homemade doggie biscuits.
In April this year, Berger underwent major surgery due to mites loving him. Every medical wash, drop or antibiotic was tried and he'd be fine for a few days and then attacked again. Our vet referred him to specialists at the Adelaide University's Companion Health Centre and a total ear canal removal was recommended for his right ear immediately and the option of trying to save or operate on his left ear a month or so after the first operation. A cat scan was scheduled and we were then given a few days to discuss all options prior to surgery.
We chose for both canals to be removed in the one operation, and seeing him in following days whilst on ketamine and fentanyl, we knew the right choice had been made. (His appearance though was a shock the first time we saw him, a shaved head, neck and part of his shoulders, shaved back leg for the anaesthetic, and both front legs shaved for stents). There was no way he would have coped with a second operation. The 120km daily trips became the norm and certainly brightened Berger up as he struggled to greet us and then sit with his nephew "Barney". We'd leave despondent and wonder when he'd come home or if he’d ever walk again, as he'd lost all strength, wouldn’t eat, and couldn’t even relieve himself.
After a week he was allowed home and the vet and I carried him to the car, where he collapsed, then once home, recognising familiar surroundings, fell out of the car, tried to walk and 15 minutes later made it to the door and from there we embarked on his road to recovery.
Whilst Berger is now totally deaf, we have noticed only positive changes in his demeanour, he is more contented and smiles a lot, lies on his back. Loves kicking his legs around, even sleeps that way. He lets Barney know who’s the
boss, takes toys and teases him. He can't wait to go out, bouncing around in anticipation. A joy to behold. Whilst his ears are stitched over, with the change of weather, we have noticed mites again trying to attack and have Epi-Otic on hand. We’d thought that we had always done everything required to protect our loved ones, and now having learnt so much, urge all to regularly check and recheck your furry friends’ ears.

GR CH GRASTONE MRS CHARLINGTON (CHARLIE)
Whelped: 18/9/2007 Sire: Sup Gr Ch Hartwyn Regal Rhetoric Dam: Strideout Lady Harriett Breeder: Mr S. Trent-Phyllyps Exhibitor: Mr Ian & Mrs Wendy Hage Gr. Ch. Grastone Mrs Charlington, or as we all lovingly know her – “Charli”
Charli forgets that she is a mature lady of 12 years of age and still runs around like a 5 year old.
Her gentle and loving nature is heart-warming. She loves her cuddles and kisses and especially a cup of tea and a tic-toc biscuit in the afternoon.
Now retired from her showing career, she enjoys her special place on the lounge or on the bed. I honestly believe that she thinks that it is her bed and she is allowing us to sleep in it.
Charli is the matriarch of the house that she shares with her 2 brothers and they definitely know who the boss is!
There aren’t the words to express our love and pride for this very special young lady, but she definitely has a very big place in our heart.
Today Charli, as you circle the show ring once again, we are standing proud to applaud and recognise your achievements.
