Islamic nance is ast becoming a prominent, alternative nancialintermediation mechanism on the world nancial stage. The Centre
or Islamic Finance was established in 1997 to assist in ostering the
growth o the Islamic banking community throughout the Middle
East and in other traditional commercial banking communities.
Drawing upon the assistance o an Islamic Banking Consultative
Committee o CEOs and General Managers o regional Islamic banks,
representatives o the General Council or Islamic Banks, the
Accounting and Auditing Organisation or Islamic Financial
Institutions and the Central Bank o Bahrain, the Center has gainedaccess to industry experts worldwide to ensure that its seminars,
workshops and academic programmes are relevant, contemporary
and practical. To that end, the Centre was recognised as the BEST
ISLAMIC FINANCE TRAINING INSTITUTION 2008 and 2009 by the
globally acclaimed Islamic Business and Finance magazine, a sister
publication o the Banker.
The learning experiences provided through the Centre ocus on
operations, products and services, management development, and
proessional qualications.
The Centre also provides advisory services to clients wishing to struc-
ture Islamic transactions or gain access to the Middle East capital
markets

Our services can be broadly divided into three categories: Proessional
short courses, proessional and academic programmes and research
and consulting services.
Proessional Courses
Our proessional courses aim at educating proessionals to perorm
their unctions in Islamic nancial institutions more eectively, armed
with the knowledge and skill set gained through our intensely
practical and ocused courses. We deliver courses in-house (Public
Oerings), invite industry experts and institutions to deliver courses
(External Oerings) or go to nancial institutions directly to provide
our services (Customised courses).

External ProgrammesIn addition, we run special courses that are delivered by leading
Islamic Finance experts who are career practitioners or leading
thinkers in Islamic Finance. We also partner with institutions that are

We also entertain requests to provide customised and comprehensive
human resource development programmes or Islamic nancial
institutions in the region. We conduct a thorough training needsassessment (TNA) to ascertain the needs o our clients and
recommend courses that suit their requirements. We design training
programmes that benet rom the collective capacity o BIBF, drawing
expertise rom our other departments where necessary.
The Centre has competitively serviced the human resource
development programmes o some o the largest and most
prominent nancial institutions in the Middle East.
Proessional and Academic Qualications
Our proessional and academic qualications are designed to
assist individuals to benet rom a ull spectrum o proessional andacademic courses, leading to an award in Islamic Finance. We have
academic programmes or individuals who have little prior academic
or Islamic Finance experience, but a wealth o lie experience. We
also have academic programmes or those who already hold a
Bachelors degree in another discipline.
Advanced Diploma in Islamic Finance
The Diploma in Islamic Finance Programme is a proessional
qualication addressing the needs o both Islamic and conventional
nancial institutions providing Islamic banking services and products.
It is a part-time evening programme emphasising the practical
aspects o Islamic banking with air coverage o the theoretical
oundation o the subject.
The programme is structured on the semester system and required
credit hours. Participants are expected to complete the required credit
hours, pass their semester exams and undertake certain assignments
in order to graduate. As a proessional qualication, the program
emphasises the current practice o Islamic banking. The Instructors
are predominantly practitioners and the study material is drawn rom
the practice o various Islamic nancial institutions.

Online Diploma in Islamic FinanceThe On-line diploma programme in Islamic Finance delivers a broad
and holistic syllabus on Islamic Finance that caters those who preer
studying orm the comorts o their own home through distance
learning. The programme is a three-stage programme consisting o a
total o six modules, ranging rom courses such as Islamic
Commercial Jurisprudence to Islamic Accounting and Corporate
Governance. Advancing to the next stage o the programme is an
option exclusively given to participants. Comprehensive course
material prior to the beginning o the semester is provided and
participants will be subject to an exam using material as a coresource. This is expected to be available in 2011.
BA- Islamic Finance
The BA in Banking and Islamic Finance is an all-in comprehensive
bachelors programme that will provide students with a well-rounded
commerce education and a major in Islamic Finance. The programme
is oered as a joint programme with the University o Wales or as
an independent Degree at BIBF University. The programme will also
provide graduates with an opportunity to major in a number o other
elds simultaneously, including Accounting, Finance and Banking,
either in Bahrain or with our partner universities.
MS- Islamic Finance
The Masters o Science Islamic Finance is the culmination o
substantial industry based research and eedback to create a unique
programme that provides participants with a strong background in
both the science o conventional nance and the dynamics o Islamic
Finance as practised today.
This programme builds on the success o the existing DePaul and
BIBF relationship to create a program that builds on each partnerscore specialisation. DePaul University and the highly reputed Kellstadt
Graduate School o Business is responsible or the Finance specialist
stream while the Centre or Islamic Finance at BIBF is responsible or
compiling and delivering the Islamic Finance specialist stream.
The broader aim o this programme was to create the next
generation o leaders in Islamic Finance, equipped with the specialist
knowledge set and skills that arise out o combining the science o
conventional nance and Islamic Finance.
