The Faith Way vs. the Comfort Zone

Way

Page 4: CELL PHONES or LAPTOPS

The comfort zone way is the way that feels most comfortable to us. It means we are going by our feelings and it causes us to avoid real faith in God. The faith way will never be comfortable. It’s scary. It takes a risk on God (which really is no risk, but we feel that it is).The faith way is long term thinking. It is willing to suffer in the short term for long term gain. The Comfort zone way is short term thinking. It is only concerned with what makes me feel better right now.

1. Understand the difference between the comfort zone way and the faith way.

The story of the boat and Comfort Zone thinking Matt. 14:22-32 )The boat signifies the comfort zone of the disciples and only one of them came out of that comfort zone. We have lots of ‘boats’ in which we like to stay comfortable. We like to be there with all the fears we are holding on to. If we remain in our comfort zone, we will never experience what God wants to do through us. When we obey and step out of our comfort zone, then we show our dependence on God.

2. Learn from Biblical records the difference between comfort zone mentality and faith mentality.

Just as God asked the priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant to step out into the waters of the Jordan River before He parted the water (i.e., they had to “get their feet wet”), He asks us also to take that step of faith and “wet our feet” if we want to experience Him. (Joshua 3)The priests had to first take a step of faith and only then did God part the water. God is not going to do anything unless you first step out in faith before you see God act.

4. We don’t want to ask everyone for one challenging amount.

5. We don’t ask everyone for contacts or don’t ask for lots of contacts

6. We only ask your friends or acquaintances to become Ministry Partners.

7. We don’t want my Support Coach to go on this appointment with me.
