Caythorpe Liaison Committee 14th September 2010Project status
Centrica announced on 28th July 2010 that as a result of regulatory uncertainty the company had decided not to proceed with the Caythorpe Gas Storage Project at the current time. This means that the final investment decision on the project will be delayed. However, preparatory work at the site will continue so that if the project is sanctioned at a later date then it will be able to proceed quickly. Early civil works will continue which will include the construction of the access road to the Wellsite and the bridge crossing of the Gypsey Race.

Caythorpe Liaison Committee 14th September 2010Compulsory Purchase Order
The Company has sought to acquire the interests needed for the project by agreement with the relevant landowners. However, this has not been possible in all cases.
The original CPO confirmed in April 2008 did not include all of the interests required and omitted:rights that are required for the drilling and completion of the new boreholes and installation of monitoring equipment, as part of the maintenance of existing boreholes;a clear definition of the rights required for the pipeline; andrights to store gas beneath Rudston Road.
As a result it is necessary to promote a supplementary CPO to enable the project to be fully implemented. Notices to the landowners involved and in the press will be issued later this month (September).
