Without doubt, Term 1 2020 has been an extraordinary one. I trust that you and your families continue to be healthy and safe as you are reading this message.
I want to again acknowledge our teaching and administrative staff who have worked collaboratively so incredibly hard to try and ensure that the impact of COVID-19 on our students’ learning is minimised.
Thank you to the many families (over 550 in total) who responded to the survey regarding our implementation of on-line learning. We have considered the issues raised and are in the process of modifying the delivery of some of our content to best suit our families. We will send a response to all parents regarding the feedback that we have received via the class parent network, and Seesaw, tomorrow.
You will start to notice some changes in our delivery of on-line learning in the first week of next term.
A reminder that we have produced a ‘CHPS Tips and Tricks’ presentation that we hope will support parents and students in completing learning tasks via Seesaw. You can access this presentation by following either of the following links:
https://tinyurl.com/te2x7zo
https://sway.office.com/5q2pbwhhkjA3aJj1?ref=Link
As well as setting tasks and providing feedback to students, teachers are also marking class rolls each day. As previously communicated, where students are engaged in their learning via Seesaw on a given day, they are granted flexible leave. If the teacher cannot see that your child has engaged with their learning tasks on any given day, without a parent explanation, they will be marked as absent. If your child is unwell, we do not expect them to attempt tasks. Please contact the school via Skoolbag to inform us if your child is unwell and they will be granted sick leave.
For your information, the Department has made a range of resources available to parents to assist with on-line learning from home. Visit
https://education.nsw.gov.au/teaching-and-learning/curriculum/learning-from-home/advice-to-parents-and-carers for further details.
Term 1 concludes tomorrow (Thursday 9 April) and will re-commence for students on Tuesday 28 April. Our on-line learning programs will continue on this date and although we have no direct advice as yet, I expect that we will continue to deliver lessons in this way for at least the majority, if not the entirety, of Term 2.

Operation Art
Thank you to all of those Operation Art students who have already returned their notes and artworks. I understand that there are some students who have still not brought in their artworks to school, due to concerns about COVID-19. If those students would still like to be involved with Operation Art, their artworks may be dropped off to the front office by TOMORROW Thursday April 9.
The normal whole school selection process is no longer available as our annual school Operation Art gallery can no longer go ahead as planned. There will be more information to come on how the 4 artworks will be chosen and when the artworks can be displayed for our school.
The 4 chosen artworks will now be displayed in an online exhibition for the 2020 Operation Art Exhibition.
Thank you for your cooperation and my apologies for the changes.

The Castle Hill Public School cross country carnival due to be held in Term 2 has been cancelled.
At the current time, the winter PSSA sport season has been postponed but not cancelled. We are awaiting further information from CHPSSA as to if and when the season will commence. Some suggestion has been there may be opportunity to have winter PSSA in Term 3, 2020. Of course, that is pending future developments around home schooling.
Please continue to read the newsletter for announcements about school sport over the coming months.
