• He loved astronomy and the four humors so, he based his practices on it.

• His apothecaries provided him with his medicine when he needed it.

• He was well-versed in Aesculapius.

• The Doctor had no time for superfluities for pleasure.

– The specific occupation the Doctor practices is being a physician. He works in medicine and surgery.

– Chaucer’s tone toward the Doctor issophisticated, but pragmatic.He conveys this through the lines. “ No onealive could talk as well as he did on pointsof medicine and surgery (422-423).” Also,In the end of the lines for the Doctor, Chaucer shows how greedy he is and how he has a love for gold.

– The Doctor’s social standing was high class and he was extremely wealthy. However, he wasselfish, greedy, deceptive, and immoral.He kept all his earnings to himself. Also, hewas perceived to be a wonderful physician,but he was careless.

– The Doctor’s day to day life might be very luxuriousfor himself. Also, it might be filled with surgeries andmedical visits. Also, he did not read the bible very much.

– Some details Chaucer includes about the Doctor’sphysical appearance and personality is the Doctor wears “blood-red garments, slashed with blush-grayand lined with taffeta (449-450).” The Doctor’spersonality was non-religious, greedy, and smart in medicine, surgery, and astronomy. He waswell-versed, but selfish.

– The modern day occupation that might correspond to our medieval character, the Doctor, would be a regular doctor, physician, or a pharmacist because most doctor’s are wealthy, smart, and pharmacistdeal with medicine.
