DEFINITION
Canoeing is a paddle sport in which someone kneels or sits facing forward in an open-decked canoe, and this person propels the canoe with a paddle. In 1840 it began to be considered as a sport.

The oldest discipline of ICF canoeing is for single, double and four people sprint canoes and kayaks. The sprint takes places on a straight course divided in lanes on calm water . The distances are 200 m , 500m and 1000 m
