Levitation
Swing it with Levitation, an uptempo 12-bar blues shuffle in the key of C. Authenticjazz for the string orchestra, Levitation is arranged with written out solos for eachinstrument that can be played by one student or an entire section, includes cool swingrhythms, and also features a vamp in the middle for a conversation between twosections of the orchestra. Originally commissioned by the Wolf Trap Foundation forMagruder High School in Rockville, MD, and premiered in the spring of 2004 withRandy Sabien as guest soloist and Mark Eisenhower conducting, Levitation willprovide an exciting piece for high school or advanced middle school orchestra.Percussion and piano parts add the finishing touches to the true jazz sound.
