REVIEWOFENVIRONMENTALFACTORS
Bus priority and capacity improvements in Macquarie Park Transport for NSW and Roads and Maritime Services are proposing a range of improvements to the road network in Macquarie Park to make the journey to and from work and home easier. TheproposedroadworkswouldimprovebusservicestravellingthroughtheareaandmakegettingaroundMacquarieParkeasierforeveryone,whetheryouarewalkingordrivingtotheshopsoruniversity.TheproposalwouldsupporttheSydney’sBusFutureplanandbedeliveredaspartoftheBusPriorityInfrastructureProgram.
RoadsandMaritimehavedetailedthesechangesinaReviewofEnvironmentalFactors(REF)andweinviteyoutohaveyoursayontheproposalby5pm on Friday 12 May 2017.

BackgroundMacquarieParkisarapidlygrowingresidential,commercialandshoppingdistrict,needinglong-termbusandroadimprovementstosupportthearea’sfuturegrowth.Weareproposingarangeofroadandintersectionupgradestoimprovethereliabilityandefficiencyofbusservices,whileeasingcongestionandimprovingtrafficflowforallroadusersinthearea.
Weproposetodelivertheworkintwostages:
Stage 1AspartofSydneyMetroNorthwest,theEppingtoChatswoodraillineisscheduledtotemporarilyclosefromlate2018foraboutsevenmonths.Duringthisperiod,theTemporaryTransportPlanwillbeimplementedtoreplacerailwayserviceswithadditionalbuses.Theproposedroadandintersectionupgradeswouldsupporttherunningofbusesandimprovetrafficflowinthearea.Theproposedworkwouldstartaroundmid-2017.
Stage 2OnceSydneyMetroNorthwestopens,theremainderoftheroadandintersectionupgradeswouldbecarriedout.ThisworkwouldprovidelongtermimprovementsandongoingsupportfortwokeycorridorssetoutinSydney’sBusFuture–ParramattatoMacquarieParkviaCarlingfordandEpping,andHurstvilletoMacquarieParkviaBurwood.Theworkwouldalsobenefitotherbusservicesoperatingintheareaandprovideimportantupgradestotheroadnetworktoreducecongestionandimproveaccessforallroadusers.

Overall proposalKeyfeaturesoftheproposalinclude:
• upgradingtheintersectionofHerringRoadandEppingRoad
• upgradingtheroundaboutintersectionofHerringRoadandIvanhoePlacetoasignalisedintersection
• adjustingthemedianalongHerringRoad,betweenIvanhoePlaceandWaterlooRoadtoprovidecontinuousbuslanesinbothdirections
• upgradingtheintersectionofHerringRoadandWaterlooRoad
• wideningWaterlooRoadbetweenCottonwoodCrescentandLaneCoveRoadtoprovidecontinuousbuslanesinbothdirections
• upgradingtheintersectionofByfieldStreetandWaterlooRoadtoasignalisedintersection
• upgradingtheroundaboutintersectionofKhartoumRoadandWaterlooRoadtoasignalisedintersection
• upgradingtheroundaboutintersectionofWaterlooRoadandLaneCoveRoad
• extendingtheexistingsouthboundbuslaneonLaneCoveRoad,betweenWaterlooRoadandEppingRoad
• upgradingtheintersectionofLaneCoveRoadandEppingRoad
• extendingtherightturnlanenorthboundonLaneCoveRoadontoEppingRoadeastbound,betweenAllengroveCrescentandLornaAvenue.
Therewouldberemovalofabout150treesandwewouldexploreopportunitiesforreplacementplantings.
Therewouldalsobesomelossofparking.
