Authorities said the city issafe ,from pandas, if not from jokesters.Officials said the message board alerting driversto street improvements near a busy city intersec-tion was probably altered late on Sunday or earlyon Monday. It was fixed by 11 a.m. local time on :Monday."Someone had to know what they were doing togo in and change the message," said MackenzieKirby,anArizona Department of Transportation spokeswoman. "It's not easy."Kirby joked that there had been no sightings of any rogue pandas in the community, but she has been sent severalphotoshopped images via email of the cuddly creatures tooled up for trouble. In one picture, a panda is holding a machete. In another, it istoting a rifle."We're all getting a laugh out of this to be sure," she said.

Reilly were at the annual cinemashowcase to promote the movie.Jodie Foster,a two-time Oscarwinner, rounded off the cast, but did not attend the press conference in Venice.Polanski set the comedy of manners in New Yorkbut filmed it in Paris, and would havebeen warmed bythe loud applauseafter a pressscreening which elicited plenty of laughs.Winslet, playing investment broker Nancy Cowan, won the biggest cheer for her on-screen vomit, an experience she laterdescribed as "hilarious."It was absolute Iy hiIarious shooting th e vom it sequence," the actress tol d reporters."We were all completely beside ourselves with laughter. I had to contain a lot of vomit in my mouth which is not possiblefor a person to do. Sowithout going into toomuch detail, it was a fairly complex rig and there was some extremely cleverCGIinvolved."My kids came to work ... for the vomit day and I'm so thrilled that they were there because they literally haven't stoppedtalking about it since."Waltz, who plays her attorney husband Alan, added: "It needs to be said that the vomit was prepared according to Ro-man's recipe."Power couple the Cowansvisit the home of liberal writer and campaigner Penelope Longstreet (Foster) and her down-to-earth salesman husband Michael (Reilly) after their children are involved in a brawl. What begins as a civilized exchange about the incident turns into an increasingly passionate sparring match between thetwo couples and later between the men and women.Drink, and relationship problems buried deep, mean cruelty rises quickly to the surface, although comedy is never faraway.Alan Cowan's Blackberry, for example, never stops buzzing, and he constantly interrupts conversations in order to dealwith a crisis at a drug fi rm here presents."The majority of the time we didn't feel like, 'well that was certainly funny'," Reilly said. "These people are meant to begoingth rough somewhat of a tra umati c experience with each othe r, so th e comedy wou Id come later."Shot in a single apartment in real-time, Carnage feels like watching a play on the big screen, which some critics faulted. But the general reaction at the press screening was positive.Winslet said her experience as a mother helped her understand the situation of the families."Being a parent myself I'm familiar with school playground politics and how complex that can be and sometimes howridiculous that can be and funny," she said.On starring in a Polanski movie, she replied: "When Roman Polanski invites you to join him in any project, you really don'tsayno."

A KSAX-TV report (http://bit.ly/qljrRF ) says her catch turned out to be a prostheticleg belonging to Pam Riley of Morris.Krohn returned the leg to Riley after tracking her down through a prosthetic limb manufacturer in Alexandria.Krohn says she's proud of the catch, com paring it to going deer hunting and shooti ng the biggest buck.Riley says she always wondered what someone would think if they saw a leg surfacing in a lake.

D e H D D iFello~ avatars of the ~orldAs you may have noticed by my last newsletter I r;;;:::====:::::;:::=----====--------------=====:::_]was eating a bag of Indonesian chicken flavoredChee-tos, which are far less tasty than the Chee-tos we have back home, but still somewhat in-spirational. This time round I would like to talkabout video game consoles having just boughta PS3.Normally I just buy cracked games atthe mall formy PCwhich is all fine and dandy unless there'san online aspect to it and then you can throwthat pa rt of the game out the window or you can(a word I just learned) defenestrate that idea. And if it's a really intense first person shooterwhere there's a lot of aiming to do I'd much rath-er play the game on PCas aiming with a mouseis far easier for me than aiming with a gamepad.(You always want to call it a joystick teehehe who invented that word? But I push myself to call it a gamepad asthat'swhat it is.) Although most gamepads today include 2 joysticks. Hmmmm. I gotta joystick for ya.Anyway I had so many questions that needed answers and tough decisions to make, should I buy, should I just behappy with my computer, which console should I buy, should I buy a cracked system that plays cracked games, doesIndonesia even support online gaming, if I buy a cracked system can I still play original games online. Very stressful,I didn't want to make a wrong move and I'm still not sure 1didn't but my decision was to buy an original PS3whichmeans 1have to buy original games (kinda hard to find here). BUT... because my PlayStation isn't cracked 1get to goonline where they have like this trippy online world called Play Station Home where you can do lots of things likemeet people and play games and dance and possibly sit down and have a chat, yeeees. And they have an online store where you can download demos, games and add ons. The selection of games in theonline store doesn't have most of the best games that are already out but there are some good ones. They evensell clothes for your avatar. Wonder how many people are maxing out credit cards by buying clothes and furniturefor their avatar? Oh, what a world. What a world ...Other options for game consoles were the Nintendo Wii (which we have at De Hooi for playing Guitar Hero, tennis, bowling and boxing) or Microsoft Xbox 360, the only one 1haven't tried. Always makes you wonder, but 1don'tknow anybody with an Xbox, only people with PS3s. So that's why 1went with PS3. That and most reviews said itwas a better console.De Hooi now has Beer Pong every Tuesday and it starts whenever you're ready. Loser pays for the pitcher and I'llgladly beat you for a pitcher of beer, although 1lost last Tuesday. For shame. Thanks for making De Hooi Southern Jakarta's favorite beer joint.

    Cheers,
