FRIENDSHIP ACCOMPLISHMENT
BELONGING
Concord YMCA camp programs offer a fun and
unique experience that gives children and teens
the opportunity to have their best summer ever
by meeting new friends, exploring nature,
discovering new interests, being physically active
and creating memories that last a lifetime. WHAT MAKES
CAMP MOWKAWOGAN
SO UNIQUE?
It’s a day camp that truly feels like “camp”,
in a natural setting that provides opportunities
for traditional summer camp activities.
Campers will have the opportunity to engage
in programs such as archery, boating, arts and
crafts, and discovering nature while still
returning to the comforts of home at the
end of the day.
“ My son started the
summer shy and unsure
about going to camp.
After the first few days
with the Squeaky
Sneakers he was
comfortable, met new
friends and looked
forward to going back
each day!”
- Squeaky Sneakers Parent
* FRIENDSHIPS: Amidst the fun of camp games, songs,
swimming, canoeing and talent shows, campers meet,
make new friends and strengthen existing friendships.
The bonds formed at camp are important and lasting for
many youth.
* ACCOMPLISHMENT: (PERSONAL GROWTH) While
in the welcoming environment of camp, youth are
encouraged to learn new skills and develop confidence
and independence by taking on new responsibilities
and challenges.
* BELONGING: Campers are put into groups of school
age peers to experience many activities as a camper unit.
This environment fosters a smaller camp family group to
relate to on a daily basis.
“The Day Camp Program gave my
son the opportunity to challenge
himself in new settings and learn
how to trust in his own abilities.”
- Camper Parent
“He loved going daily. And when
we signed him up, he was not
interested at all!” - Camper Parent

Camp Mowkawogan is now an ACA accredited camp! What does that mean?
ACA is the American Camp Association.
Accreditation identifies those camps which have met requirements of up to 300 health, safety, and program quality standards.
The ACA-Accredited Camp accreditation process has 50 years of parent trust behind it and is a great way to presort among camp options.
This process is solid proof of accountability, credibility, and commitment. It provides evidence that this camp cares for their campers by going to great lengths to ensure all requirements have been evaluated and have passed the test!
It shows you continually seek expert counsel. Experts from many fields: The American Academy of Pediatrics, American Red Cross, etc., continually work with ACA to improve our camp standards program.

WHERE KIDS GO
TO GROW
MOWKAWOGAN HISTORY Mowkawogan—a word from the local Native Americans, the Abenaki, meaning community.
Our camp introduces campers to traditional summer camp activities and helps to prepare our youth as they discover, learn and grow, becoming active members in today’s community. Day camp, like many Y programs, is about learning skills, developing character and making friends. But few environments are as special as summer camp, where kids become a community as they learn both how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group while engaging in physical, social and educational activities. Every new experience comes with a chance to learn and grow.
OUR CAMP STAFF
You can have peace of mind when
you enroll your children in day camps
through the Concord Family YMCA.
With a low camper-to-staff ratio,
each child and teen will receive
individual attention in a safe and
supportive environment.
You can be assured that our staff are:
• VETTED: We complete reference
checks and extensive background checks on each of our camp staff.
• TRAINED: Day camp staff complete extensive pre-camp training, including first aid, CPR/AED, planning,
child abuse prevention, age-appropriate activities, and character-development awareness.
• COMMITTED: Our staff members possess extraordinary skills in working with children and a passion for
helping each child develop. Each staff is committed to helping children and teens make new friends, try new
activities and find a true sense of belonging at camp.
Staff Highlight:
CHRIS BARNES
I have worked for the YMCA Summer Day Camp and Kydstop
Program for 3 years. Two years ago I was asked to run the
Archery Program at Camp Mowkawogan/YMCA Camp Spaulding.
I am a USA Archery certified Level 2 instructor. I discovered after
I got involved with the Archery Program that I really enjoy
teaching and working directly with kids.
This past November I was honored to be
offered a Full-Time Position with the
Concord Family YMCA. I believe firmly that
the YMCA programs work. I am not only an
employee, but a parent of a camper as
well! The YMCA Kydstop and Summer
Camp programs do amazing things,
and I am proud to be a part of this
organization.
