Be Sensortive

About two years ago, I lost my Daddy.
I had time to think, “What is the Measure of my Life?”
(These things? No!)
Social Influence / Money
For the answers, that I seeked, since
I’m a self-professin’ geek, I said…
I’m going to compare Quantified Self data, where
people are trying to optimize their physical, mental, and
emotional wellbeing or “Little Data”
+ PLUS +
….Data from the Internet of Things, where SENSORS
measure information about our lives we’re not even
aware of…
+ PLUS +
…metrics from what are called Happiness Indicators, like Bhutan’s Gross National
Happiness, that measure both the quantitative and qualitative wellbeing of an
entire population.

Reflect Optimize Purpose
In your smartphone, you’ve got a bunch of sensors.
Like GPS, guiding your life on where to go.
Or touch screen data that reveals…
The passive news ‘bout
how you feel.
Smartphones know more ‘bout you than you may know.
That’s why we’ve got to….
(Chorus).
Be sensortive, be sensortive.
When using technologies so new.
When we’re measuring our lives,
let’s make connections quantified.
Track unto others as you’d have tracked to you.
People say, “How can you measure being happy?”
But we’re not focusing on mood, if that’s what you mean.
Our tagline is, “Connecting Happiness to Action.”
Turns out ALTRUISM elevates your dopamine.
So instead of just tracking purchases and profits.
Let’s measure the meaning in our lives.
When it’s PURPOSE we pursue, and compassion’s what we do.
We’ll change the world, and make LOVING quantified.
(Chorus).
Be sensortive, be sensortive.
When using technologies so new.
When we’re measuring our lives,
let’s make connections quantified.
Track unto others as you’d have tracked to you.
(Chorus).
Be sensortive, be sensortive.
When using technologies so new.
When we’re measuring our lives,
let’s make connections quantified.
Track unto others as you’d have tracked to you.
(Big Blues Ending)
Thank you!
