THE BEST ADDRESS IN CAPE TOWN
The Table Bay was opened in May 1997 by former South African President Nelson Mandela. Situated at the historic V&A Waterfront, the hotel is perfectly positioned against an exquisite backdrop of Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean, to provide a gateway to Cape Town’s most popular allures.

The Table Bay affords guests’ unrivalled opportunities to experience the synergy of two oceans, explore a natural wonder of the world, delight in South Africa’s floral kingdom, take a trip to an island symbolic of our history, and be captivated by the sheer beauty of the Cape’s scenery and majestic animals.
THE ESSENCE OF THE ENCHANTING CAPE
THE LEGEND OF OSCAR
In pride of place at The Table Bay entrance, a sun-gold seal proudly welcomes guests. The impressive sculpture is a fitting mascot – Cape Fur Seals are an integral part of harbour life at the V&A Waterfront and seal-watching is an amusing pastime. But Oscar the Seal wasn’t just another playful marine pup gambolling along the quayside. Beneath the statue erected in his honour, an inscription reads: “Oscar the Cape Fur Seal”. The original protector and guardian of The Table Bay, Oscar’s story is the stuff of legends and inextricably intertwined with the hotel’s history. Guests can admire this iconic statue while enjoying lunch or a cocktail on Oscar’s Terrace.

NATURE’S SOURCE OF GOODNESS
The Cape ecosystem boasts a diverse array of plants that can be used creatively to enhance flavour and define dishes. The Table Bay chefs regularly forage for herbs and seasonal plants to use in the kitchen, such as colourful Hibiscus blooms, which make for great salad additions, with their cranberry-like flavour and citrus overtones. Guests can participate in The Table Bay Food Foraging Tour to discover all the rich natural ingredients the Cape offers.
REJUVENATION HAVEN
The spa provides holistic care for skin and body that will leave you feeling refreshed and pampered. A relaxing retreat focused on improving one’s lifestyle, the luxurious spa adheres to the highest international standards. The therapists use internationally acclaimed Thalgo products and offer personalised services.
