56 CE&CR DECEMBER 2016
BAUMA CONEXPO INDIA 2016 Promises to be a Mega Show
Technically the first BAUMA CONEXPO Show in India, the 4-day Construction Equipment Mega Show opening on December 12 in Gurgaon will have more global feel this time. The organizers are expecting 700 exhibitors from India and abroad, over 30,000 business visitors to the show.
Live Demonstrations are going to be a major highlight of the equipment fair, which will also feature lectures, conferences and award ceremonies.
The Builders’ Association of India (BAI), the Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (iCEMA), the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF), Construction Times and Construction Opportunities are organizing three days of conferences, lectures and trade events during the BAUMA CONEXPO INDIA from December 12 to 15, 2016 at the HUDA Ground in Gurgaon, Delhi.
BAI, the long-term partner and joint organizer of BAUMA CONEXPO INDIA, traditionally makes good use of this trade show as a networking platform for its members. On Monday, December 12, for example, the BAI Managing Committee Meeting is being held. Following the meeting, the participants will be given a guided tour of BAUMA CONEXPO INDIA.
IPAF, too, is taking the opportunity to hold an all-day members’ meeting on the first day of the show at the HUDA Ground. The association itself is handling invitations to this event. On the afternoon of December 12, Construction Times is honouring the best in construction and infrastructure with its “Construction Times Awards 2016”.
On Tuesday, December 13, iCEMA is holding a conference on the subject of “Infra redux—New and sustainable horizons”. CE&CR DECEMBER 2016 57
BAUMA CONEXPO INDIA will be entering its 4th edition in
December, how do you feel on the journey of the fair that
began in 2011?
We had started our journey in 2011 with our first show
at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) area in Mumbai. We kept the
momentum in 2013 at the same venue and we quiet successfully
managed to host the second edition as well with significant
growth in participation, also due to the momentum in the market.
In fact, I assumed my role from the second Indian edition.
From then on we changed the venue to Delhi NCR, having no
space availability in Mumbai. The decision was made to shift
the venue, keeping in mind also the crucial factor, that it was
the national capital and policy makers are based there. The first
year we started in BKC Mumbai with zero infrastructure, which
meant we just had one huge ground to ourselves with no steady
structure to do anything. Now keep in mind transporting all the
heavy equipment’s from various parts of India and the world to be
brought to the venue, which was quite a logistical challenge. Of
course, this is common issue across the globe but in India traffic
and infrastructure facility proved a daunting challenge. But as
they challenge provide opportunities, I soon realized that we had
landed in the right country. It resolved my faith that in a growing
economy like India, a show like this would add value. So, we went
on to do three more shows.
Now via bC India we are launching the show with a new
branding, while making it more in line with what we do on
international level. So, this is technically the first BAUMA
CONEXPO Show in India. In all these years, I have learnt by being
involved in smallest part of the show, travelling across India,
dealing within so many cultures within one country is the art
of making things work and being optimistic. The fair has grown
significantly, we have most of our participants repeating from
the very first edition and of course new ones joining in. In all
these years, I have seen India evolving, I am getting first-hand
experience in how democracy works, how the government’s
decisive initiative to transform India will have a truly positive
impact on our industry. I am living in an interesting time of
transformation in India. Banking revolution, Urban Development,
City Modernization, and projects like housing for all is helping
boost the demand in the sector. So, this edition of the show will
be a fresh beginning to a newer and progressive India.
How is BAUMA CONEXPO INDIA this time going to be
different from the past shows? Give us a sense of what will
be at display for a visitor?
In every sense, it is a different show, in fact in some ways
all our editions have been a standalone. From our shows at BKC,
Mumbai to our last edition at Noida, all have been a unique
experience. We have strived to add value to every edition we do.
This year we a new brand with more global feel to the show. To
begin with we are occupying total area cover of 150,000 square
metre space at HUDA Ground Sector 29 Gurugram. The Gurugram
Exhibition Venue is just 20 minutes away from the domestic and
international Airports. This is expected to provide relief to those
visiting Delhi just for the show immediately. The venue is located
closely to numerous hotels ranging from high end to budget hotels
at very close vicinity. They too are well connected by roads and
public transportation. In fact, the IFFCO Chowk Metro Station is
just next to the ground. The last Noida venue too was fantastic.
But since the venue has had few new additions and we needed a
bigger open space for display, hence the new centrally located
venue fell right into place. This year in addition we have added
a Demo Area, which will allow visitors and buyers to see the
machines in action. That will get a lot of eyeballs. There are more
aces up the sleeve which a visitor will experience and that’s whole
point of rebranding. I cannot spoil the fun or compare further as
it’s a different thing we are doing this time.
In terms of numbers of exhibitors, can you give us a figure of
participants and tell us who all are coming?
The BAUMA CONEXPO 2016 is expected to showcase around
approximately 700 exhibitors and will receive around 30,000
plus business visitors. We are pleased to inform that big names

XCMG have confirmed their presence for the 2016 edition. Of
course there are many more participants worth a look, a complete
list is available in our exhibitor database online.
There must be some special attractions? Can you share some
of these?
I think we have revealed most of it above and any further
will spoil the fun. Mostly, the machinery, the new product
launches and innovative ideas of our exhibitors are the biggest
attraction and crowd-pulling factor. I believe they are the biggest
contributor to attract thousands of visitors.
Preparation for such a mega event in itself is a big exercise; can
you share with us the kind of support you got from industry
and the ecosystem?
A show like this cannot be complete without full support
from every possible corner we can get, be it the government,
our own partners, our stakeholders and not to mention all those
exhibitors and visitors who make their presence felt. It may seem
a very simple and very easy statement, but to be very honest in
three years in India, I have learnt to work with people. It is the
best training ground for professional who aspires to work on
international level. During my roadshows, business development
meetings I have travelled length and breadth of this country and
even neighboring countries. Everywhere I have come across more
people willing to help and cooperate. We do face lot of hardship
a lot due to external circumstances, specially global economic
slowdown and such factors causing some anxious moments but
that’s when you begin to realize that business will go on and you
just have to work your way across. So without specifying any
name, I remain eternally grateful to all with who we interact with
be it fruitful or absolutely no value at all. But every meeting is a
learning experience and a new value addition to the process.
If we compare BAUMA CONEXPO INDIA with BAUMA China,
how are both different and at the same time unique?
I would not like to compare, as the markets are a lot different.
China without any doubt is very robust in their infrastructure
program and they have taken up some very bold projects for
national development. So yes, the appetite for our equipment is
huge. But then their remains challenges that is specific to that
market. On the other hand, India is much more sturdy. Indian are
very intelligent people, a very different breed of work force.
In India as the government takes up bold initiative and decisive
moves we see a silver lining. To top it all, the ease of doing business
and GST is making India a very attractive destination again. Looking

at the reforms in Banking sector, the RBI’s move regarding NPA’s
of Banks and Demonetization will see investors coming in. So it
will interesting to gauge how India and China are faring in years to
come. Currently, India has upped its ante in the international playing
field, hence more than anything I would love to see the contrast in
how the markets work. Comparing it will be wrong, observing will
make us all respect both markets well. I believe that China too looks
into India and its scope for further business development.
Everybody is talking about growth of construction sector in
India in fact the only Asian country witnessing growth; can you
add a brief perspective?
Yes, and it is true. In the recent past, the Indian government
has been taking steps to bolster its banking and financial sector,
ensuring favourable policies ensures ease of doing business in
India and bringing in uniform tax code among other things to keep
the Indian economic growth on track and bring in fresh set of
investments into the Indian market. In recent past, reports have
indicated India as the fastest growing economy in the world with
7.5 per cent to 8 per cent growth. Even agencies such as S&P
Global Ratings feel the Indian growth story is solid. It has praised
the Indian government’s handling of the economy and its effort to
push for the growth potential as well. But to sustain this growth,
India needs to focus more into its infrastructure sector. As per
the last union budget, the Modi government has committed
to increase spending on total infrastructure investment by 22
percent over the next two years. The Indian government and
international development banks are making billions available for
new roads, bridges, sea and airports, as well as railway and energy
projects. In fact the Indian Union Minister for Road Transport and
Highways and Shipping, Mr. Nitin Gadkari has indicated that the
government will line up Rs. 25Lakh Crore for the highway and
shipping sector over the next five years. Germany Trade & Invest
(GTAI) in a recent report reported that expressway construction
in India in 2016/17 is to be expanded to 15,000 km compared
with 6,000 km the year before. British market research company
Off-Highway Research envisages the approximately 55,000
construction machines is expected to be sold in India in 2016,
thus climbing steadily to more than 71,000 units by 2020.
What are your expectations from the BAUMA CONEXPO
INDIA
Simply, that with each edition of this show we become the
yardstick of how Indian Construction Sector gauges its own
growth. We are able to truly a show that contributes to Indian
growth story. India needs this and I wish this country to develop
further, with the right infrastructure that is needed. Hence, come
and visit and let’s celebrate the biggest feast of the industry in
this sector by mid December.

stone and recycling applications.
What are your expectations from the mega event?
We are not looking at Bauma Conexpo India from a Business
perspective but as an excellent plat-form to interact with our
customers – both existing as well as potential. This would also
be a plat-form for us to showcase our latest technologies and
innovations . Our customers have an excellent opportunity to
interact with our Product Managers , Application specialists and to
experience our 10 new products introduced to the market – all at
our Outdoor Pavillion 841.
What are your views on the future of construction industry
in India?
We see great opportunities in the roads and the highways
segments in the coming years in India , as the government has
clear focus on roads and enough budget allocation has been done
for road projects. We feel the government is on the right track
with regards to accele-rating the road building activity in India,
and they have already reached a respectable figure of 18 km per
day with close to 10,000 kms of new roads which will be awarded
in this financial year and also awards which are expected from the
state highways. This in turn will further boost the demand for CE
industry in India.

What will be the focus of display from your company?
The focus of display are on our 36 products, which are need
based solutions to the market. We also are addressing the product
needs of recycling of concrete, transport and storage of sludges,
saving water through wastewater treatment and will be specially
showcasing boom training simulator as well.
Can you share what new developments, innovations and
launches we can expect during the expo?
In BaumaConexpo India 2016, Schwing Stetter India will
be launching a slew of new products. These products are
for different needs of construction like batching concrete,
transporting concrete, pumping concrete, recycling concrete and
shotcreting concrete. But this year, we will be specially addressing
the key focus areas of Government of India in the area of Clean
India or Swachh Bharat and Skill India. Towards those Goals, we
will be displaying Smartec sludge pump, which will be of great
help in projects like cleaning of Ganga, metro rail construction,
waste water management and smart cities.
Similarly, our training simulators will offer opportunity to the
operators to move onto virtual experience and simulation to train
them in safety and operation of concrete boom pumps. This will
be a one step forward compared to the current learning with the
graphics.
Also, we will be showcasing a heavy duty stationary pump
SP 4507 for the first time. SP 4507 is a new development for
the present trend of high rise pumping requirement especially in
growing real estate markets like India and abroad. This new age
pump bridges the gap between SP3800 and SP4800 capacity
pumps. This will cater to high rise segment where the present
challenges of pumping the mix with stiff consistencies at a faster
rate to around 300m vertical.
Other features
1 The pump develops 203 bar pressure on concrete and delivers
an output of 54m3/hr in high pressure configuration.
2 The pump kit and rock valve of the SP 4507 each have their
own hydraulic circuit. It helps to handle high grade mix. The
full power of the pump kit will be available - regardless of
the switching movements of the rock. This ensures a quiet
pump behaviour, high pumping capacity and protection of the
components with less vibration.
3 The new generation ‘rock’ comes with high efficient energy
transfer on the concrete.
4 New operator interface and emergency pressure release
system will ensure safe operating environment.
We will also be launching a slew of products such as:
- Recycling plant RA20
- 5 tonne external climbing flat top tower crane XGT T80
- Wheel loader LW180K
- Motor grader GR 150 II
- Truck mounted crane QY85KA-Y
- Piling rig XR130E
- Crank arm type aerial lift platform GTBZ14J
- Crank arm type aerial work platform GTJZ08
- Horizontal directional drilling machine XZ450 plus.
Schwing Stetter India Will Be Launching A Slew Of New ProductsFocus On Batching, Transporting, Pumping, Recycling And Shotcreting Concrete Equipment.
62 CE&CR DECEMBER 2016
What are your expectations from the mega event?
We expect BaumaConexpo India to have many visitors, the
decision makers especially from the Government departments,
which will give all the manufacturers an opportunity to showcase
the strength of the company and the product to such visitors. This
will definitely help the industry to have a better understanding
about the future requirement of machines for increase in the
scale of construction in India with increased speed and skill levels.
We look forward to the customer feedback and comments for
the products displayed, so that we can finetune and bring out the
products which are capable of addressing their needs.
What are some of the issues facing construction equipment
industry?
The recent demonetization is going to be good in the long
run but in the short term there could be postponement of
purchases or investments due to the changed scenario in the
liquidity. We also expect the GST implementation in April to
put the system out of gear during the implementation phase.
Together, GST and demonetization can potentially bring down
the sales for the next six months. We expect things to improve
tremendously after that.
What are your views on the future of construction industry
in India?
In India, over the next few years the “Earthmoving and
Construction Equipment (ECE) Market is expected to grow at a
tremendous CAGR of 20-25%. Currently ECE market accounts
for only $3 billion, but its growth potential is more in the near
future, such that the market would be around $16-20 billion
by 2020. Indian ECE market has the greatest capability to grow
at 20-25% to reach 330k-450k unit sales by 2020 wherein
concreting equipment is to grow at a CAGR of 15% annually.

Plan for the Show
We want to make our booth as interactive and engaging as
possible for visitors. Large outdoor stall with 5 new products
displayed of which 3 will be officially launched in the show.
Volvo Penta, Volvo Trucks and Volvo Financial Services will also
be represented in our stall. We are running live photo booths,
plus quizzes, competitions and more. We’re looking forward to
meeting as many visitors as possible at the show, to understand
how we can help them improve their businesses. Volvo CE will
have an 1,100 sq m display, located at Stand 233 in the outdoor
area. To facilitate a one-stop solution for customers, Volvo
CE and Volvo Financial Services will be launching competitive
financing schemes and on-the-spot credit approvals at bC India.
Focus of display
There are five machines from three product lines on show,
while information on dozens more machines will be available, plus
are a range of activities planned for visitors.
Maintaining the strong focus on road building at the show will
be the P5320B ABG paver which is appearing at a trade show
for the first time, having launched earlier in 2016. Like the new
compactors, this advanced paver is also built at the Bangalore
factory and delivers exceptional paving quality and productivity,
as well as easier operation and outstanding fuel efficiency.
Alongside the compactors and pavers Volvo CE will display
two of its advanced excavators from the D-Series. The 21-ton
rated EC210D and 25-ton rated EC250D represent the latest
in construction technology and are well suited to a range of
applications including road building, irrigation projects or work in
materials handling duties.
In the excavator categories above 30 tons, we have enjoyed
huge success with our D-Series models. The EC300D, EC480 and
EC750D are well-known and popular units in India. We want to
use bC India to show visitors the kind of productivity advantages
our D-Series models offer in smaller classes.
Newer Products/Innovations
Two new compactors will be formally launched at bC India,
both of which are built at the Volvo CE manufacturing facility
in Bangalore. The new DD90B double drum compactor and
SD110BA single drum compactor have their origins in proven
Volvo designs, but feature a number updates to make them even
more attractive to Indian customers. The introduction of the units
is timely, with pressure growing on contractors to ensure projects
stay on schedule as the Government of India targets 30 km of
new road construction per day.
Perhaps the most important design feature of the new DD90B
and SD110BA is the inclusion of a locally-built engine with a
reputation for rugged performance and ease of service. We’ve
also fine-tuned the design of these units so they appeal more
to Indian customers. The new models not only deliver better
vibrating performance they also have Volvo’s trademark fuel
efficiency and will offer faster ROI to owners.
Expectations from the mega event
We are looking forward to meeting with as many customers,
dealers, potential customers and others as possible. With the
current high activity levels in the road building sector, we are
expecting strong interest in the many machines we produce for this
market. We also hope that the event will be a further positive boost
for the Indian construction market as we transition into 2017.
Issues before construction equipment industry
We don’t see bC India 2016 as a platform for very broad
industry discussion. For sure, we expect lots of 1-on-1 dialogue
with industry stakeholders, but conversations will be more localized.
The biggest challenge facing the industry is one of scale
and speed. The government has very ambitious plans for
infrastructure development, particularly in the road building
sector. Contractors are under pressure complete work faster, and
the size of projects continues to grow. The country needs to grow
its equipment base if it is to meet current targets, and we expect
much discussion around this issue at bC India 2016.
Future of construction industry in India
Overall the short-term future for the Indian construction
industry is bright. There is much work to be done and that is
supported by generally positive government initiatives.

What are plans of your company for the show?
In bauma CONEXPO India 2016, for the first time in India
perhaps, we will be running live. Not only a large new Concrete
Block Machine, Model SPM30, but, more significantly, its
Automatic Rack Loader-Unloader, Model UL30, in a 350sq.m.
open stand at this show. This is a completely new Rack and Pallet
Handling technology being introduced for the first time in the
Indian market. By running the equipment live at the show, we
hope to make a significant impact on the audience and provide
visitors with a thorough understanding of the working of this new
equipment and its technology.
What will be the focus of display from your company?
At BaumaConExpo 2016, we will be launching a significant
new addition to our concrete block machinery range made in India,
the Model SPM30, which is bigger and better than our flagship
Model SPM20 machine. In addition, the manual pallet and product
handling of the SPM20 plant will be replaced by an indigenously
manufactured, fully automatic Rack Loader/Unloader along with
a Plate Style Cuber for product cubing. Both handling equipment
use technology being introduced for the first time in India. This
will drastically reduce manpower required while improving quality
and efficiency at affordable costs. We now also offer a very large
capacity, fully automated, high technology Concrete Block Plant
made in Poland by Techmatik (a Columbia company).
Can you share what new developments, innovations and
launches, can we expect during the expo?
Same as previous question.
What are your expectations from the mega event?
It is important that the show like BaumaConExpo attracts the
best companies from all over the world as exhibitors, which, in
turn, would result in good quality of visitors from the industry.
The show must be well publicised through proper channels so
that the target audience is reached. Hosting venue should be
easily accessible from the nearest airport. There should be a large
number and variety of lodging boarding options with convenient
transport arrangements.Good weather is important particularly
for shows with outdoor stands. We have high expectations from
Bauma this year.
What are the issues facing construction equipment industry
and do you think BAUMA CONEXPO INDIA platform will be
used to discussion some of these issues?
With the slowdown in the real estate market throughout the
country and infrastructure projects barely taking up the existing
slack in capital equipment, machinery sales have been slow. With
the demonetization, there is further uncertainty created in the
market which is likely to slow down further over the next two
quarters. A show like BaumaConExpo provides us a platform to
showcase new technologies and products to the industry. It also
provides an opportunity to connect with existing customers,
producers and competitors and exchange notes and views with
them. Each show also yields new business leads and provides
exposure to a significant new audience.
What are your views on the future of construction industry
in India?
The continued slowdown in infrastructure and real estate
sectors in India results in a weak market for our Machinery. The
steps being taken by the present government to clear stalled
infrastructure projects and increase infrastructure spending on
roads, ports, smart cities, industrial and freight corridors should
greatly improve market conditions in the near future.
Any recommendations?
Urbanization is happening at fast pace in India. Government
should focus more on strengthening under developed states
and help to develop India uniformly, increasingly infrastructure,
roads, buildings, schools and hospitals. This will help uniform
development in India.

The overall slowdown in the world economy had taken a toll
on infrastructure investments in India in last few years. To address

this issue, the government has set ambitious targets as part of
the on goingTwelfth FYP(FY12–FY17), proposing INR56 lakh
crores of investment in infrastructure. These targets are heavily
weighed towards the second half of the plan, with 52 percent
of total investment expected in the last twoyears of the plan
period. In addition, the Union Budget of the new government has
earmarked INR2lakh crores for investment in infrastructure. The
investments are all allocated for a broad range of infrastructure
projects including roads, airports, rural infrastructure, and urban
infrastructure.
The construction equipment market has improved
tremendously in the last 8-9 months due to huge road and other
infrastructure projects. Wecan look forward to more growthin
2017, with further pickup in 2018 and 2019.
In the current financial year 2016-17 being a market leader
Apollo Infratech group made a tremendous growth in higher

What are your expectations from the mega event?
Ajax Fiori is participant of bauma CONEXPO since its inception
in India and are also participating in the 2016 edition. This will be a
wonderful opportunity for customers across segments to witness
the technological developments in the field of Construction
Equipment. As a manufacturer of Concreting Equipment we
expect this event would enhance our penetration to niche markets
and new application segments for our product range.
What are some of the issues facing construction equipment
industry and do you think BAUMA CONEXPO INDIA platform
will be used to discuss some of these issues?
Many of the aggregates (components) used in Construction
machinery have not been localised. This results in increased
manufacturing cost and the burden is passed on to the customer.
Also in view of the long lead time for procurement of these
components, the flexibility to cater to the sudden spurt in demand
is limited.
BC India could be an ideal platform to meet different
component manufacturers and discuss these issues.
What are your views on the future of construction industry
in India?
Infrastructure is the base for the progress of any developing
nation to ensure standard quality of life and high gross domestic
product (GDP). There is huge demand for airport infrastructure,
railways, roads, urban and rural housing, and numerous other
projects – all indicating the need for an improved infrastructure.
This signifies the demand and growth of the construction
equipment industry in India.
Increased public spending in key infrastructure development
projects has gradually increased over the past year, and as a result
the Construction Equipment Industry has been recovering.
We expect that the continued thrust on Infrastructure
projects by the Central & various State Governments will maintain
the pace of growth in 2016-17 as well. Going forward, lowered
interest rates and GST implementation along with the acceleration
of Infra projects will further boost the growth of Construction
Equipment Industry.

Plans for the Show
We are presently in a transition phase. The proposed merger
of Kobelco Cranes(KCI) into Kobelco Construction Equipment
India Pvt. Ltd (KCEI) will take place by the end of the current
financial.
There will be a Crawler Crane on display. Also, the recently
launched Okada range of Rock Breakers would be showcased.
Focus of display
Kobelco Cranes is displaying one of their heavy duty Cranes,
the CKL2600i with a maximum lifting capacity of 260MT at this
event. KCEI is highlighting two of their recent launches – the
all new HD range of Okada Rock Breakers as well as the new
Hydraulic Excavator, the SK380HDLC Heavy Tracks, which now
comes with the Best-in-Class Undercarriage.
Newer Developments/innovations
Kobelco is a leading premium global Brand in Crawler-
mounted Cranes. The Okada range of Rock Breakers has been
re-designed based on extensive field trials at sites in India.
These changes ensure higher durability and longer life beside
better performance. As far as the SK380HDLC is concerned,
the new model will set a new standard with its top-of-the-line
Undercarriage – a critical part of the machine.
Expectations from the Expo
Unlike the previous edition of this event, the overall market
sentiment is clearly positive and suggestive of sustained growth.
Much higher footfall can be expected and with many Projects
being revived or newly launched, Customer interest should be
very good. The event venue is a new one and hopefully should not
be a negative factor.
Challenges before CE industry
The CE industry is facing several challenges. The major
challenge of low demand has shown a turnaround. However, it
will require a sustained positive trend to make a proper impact.
Import of cheap, low-technology machines from some countries
or the import of used equipment are also serious challenges. Some
conferences/ discussions are planned to highlight all relevant
issues and concerns.
Future of construction industry in India
We have always seen India as a good future CE market. Our
investments in India are based on our assessment and confidence.
As the Government pushes for large-scale Infra Projects as well as
Mining activities, the outlook is certainly positive.
Your Recommendations
The Government may have to play a facilitator’s role in
ensuring a level playing field through technological upgradation.

start this.

What are plans of your company for the show?
Haulotte has been a regular participant in BAUMA across the
world. We have been there with BAUMA India since 2011and
have participated in all the three exhibitions held till date. This
year too we shall be there for BAUMA CONEXPO 2016 at
Gurgaon. We shall be located at Outdoor Stall No.840. This is the
only international Show, which we find as an appropriate platform
to exhibit our products. We expect that customers from both end
user sector and rental sector who shall be visiting our stall would
be made familiar to the latest technological advances that we
have done in our range of Aerial Work Platforms and Telehandlers.
What will be the focus of display from your company?
For Bauma Conexpo 2016, we shall be exhibiting our latest
generation of Rough Terrain Articulated Boom, Vertical Mast,
Electric Scissor and Telehandler. Each variant has its own USP,
but one of the many distinguishing notable feature is in the
lower ground control Box of our articulating boom. We have
incorporated the Haulotte Diagnostic screen in the panel, which
shall enable the user to get all details of performance and related
parameter at a touch of a button. Further, any fault diagnosis can
also be done on this screen, which gives a pictorial description of
the nature and location of the fault. This tremendously helps in
reducing the downtime of the machine and any intervention can
be done in the shortest possible time.
What are your expectations from the mega event?
The aim of participation in Bauma Conexpo is not only for
generation of business, which of course is a prime objective but
also to increase the awareness of the multifarious use of AWP
& Telehandlers across sectors. That is what we are showcasing
in our offering during this exhibition and expect a very positive
response from customers and visitors from both End User and
Rental Segment.
What are some of the issues facing construction equipment
industry and do you think BAUMA CONEXPO INDIA platform
will be used to discuss some of these issues?
The major issue that still continues to plague the CE industry as
such is the differential rate of taxation, entry tax, etc., prevalent
across states. This is a huge impediment to the industry as a whole.
It is heartening to note that government is firm in its commitment
to roll out GST hopefully by April 2017 and this shall indeed have a
positive cascading effect on the industry as a whole.
What are your views on the future of construction industry
in India?
On a global perspective the demand of AWP’s has certainly
increased both in Government and Private sector. Rental sector
is also seeing good demands of our equipments, which is an
encouraging sign. Going forward we are sure of the Construction
Equipment Sector is expected to sustain market growth for the
next four years, albeit at more sustainable levels.
With the impetus being given by the government towards
Infrastructure development, we definitely are hopeful that
growth in the Equipment sector shall gather pace in the years to
come. Unfortunately, most of the major projects like the Navi
Mumbai International Airport, Nhava Sheva Sewri Sea Link etc.,
are still in the planning stage; so we are yet to see any substantial
spurt in demands. But going forward we are sure that growth in
this sector shall definitely touch new highs.

we can expect during the expo?
We are displaying Zoomlion’s latest range of passenger hoists
for high rise construction. We are also showcasing several marquee
installations we have done across different sites in India.
At ElectroMech we are displaying a wide showcase of our
installations across the world and would be interacting with our
existing and new customers and understanding as to how we can
help them with our solutions approach to solve their material
handling problems.
What are your expectations from the mega event?
bcIndia 2016 is being held on the background of increased spend
in the construction equipment sector. Hence we are sure that
we will be meeting a number of new customers at this show as
well as the show allows us to reinforce our relations with existing
customers.
This opportune timing also bodes well from point of view of
generating serious enquiries for the equipment and I am sure, this
will be a busy show for all the participants.
What are your views on the future of construction industry
in India?
The government should keep spending on infrastructure!
There is a serious dearth of infrastructure in the country and I am
sure that even if we continue building infrastructure for next 25
years, we still wouldn’t have met all the demands of the Indian
populace. Hence the only request is to keep continuing the razor
sharp focus that the government has today and make India at par
with developed countries.
