AT  LIFEPOINTE  CHURCH

 WHO  SHOULD  YOU  BE  BAPTIZED?

Every  Christian    should  be    BAPTIZED!    'Be  sorry  for  your  sins  and  turn  from  them  and  be  baptized  in  the  name  of  Jesus  Christ  .  .  .    those  who  believed  what  he  said  were  baptized.  (Acts  2:38,  41  –  NLV)

We  don’t  get  baptized  to  BECOME  a  Christian;  we  are  baptized  to  show  that  we  ARE  a  Christian!

 WHY  SHOULD  YOU  BE  BAPTIZED?

It  is  a  PUBLIC  CONFESSION    If  anyone  acknowledges  me  publicly  here  on  earth,  I  will  openly  acknowledge  that  person  before  my  Father  in  heaven.  (Matthew  10:32  –  NLT)

WHEN  SHOULD  YOU  BE  BAPTIZED?    It  is  to  occur  AFTER  SALVATION

Those  who  accepted  his  message  were  baptized  .  .  .      (Acts  2:41  -‐  NIV)

HOW  SHOULD  YOU  BE  BAPTIZED?    It  is  to  be  done    by  TOTAL  IMMERSION    (GO  UNDER  THE  WATER)

BAPTIZO  –  “To  dip,  to  plunge,  to  put  under  the  water”  Going   under   the   water   symbolizes   that   our   old   life   is   gone   and   coming   up   out   of   the   water  symbolizes  that  a  new  life  is  begun!

WHAT  IS  THE  BIGGEST  REASON  TO  BE  BAPTIZED?    It  is  a  matter  of    OBEDIENCE    to    JESUS

Therefore,  go  and  make  disciples  of  all  the  nations,  baptizing  them  in  the  name  of  the  Father  and  the  Son  and  the  Holy  Spirit.  (Jesus  -‐  Matthew  28:19  -‐  NLT)

ANSWERING  YOUR  QUESTIONS  ABOUT  BAPTISM

WHEN  WILL  MY  BAPTISM  TAKE  PLACE

Our   church  gathers   regularly   to   celebrate  baptism.  Because  we  baptize  people  by  putting   them  under   the  water,  we   celebrate   baptism  at   places   that   have   swimming  pools   or   baptismal   pools  (such  as  private  homes  or  other  churches).

WHAT  WILL  HAPPEN  DURING  MY  BAPTISM?

At  the  beginning  of  the  service,  Pastor  Chuck  or  another  LifePointe  pastor    will  briefly  explain  the  meaning  of  baptism.  You  will  wait  for  your  turn  to  be  baptized.    Whoever  does  your  baptism  will  help  you  into  the  water.  You  will  be  introduced  and  before  you  are  baptized  you  will  be  asked,  “DO  YOU  KNOW  JESUS  AS  YOUR  SAVIOR  AND  LORD?”.  You  will  respond  by  saying,  “YES  I  DO!”    After  that,  you  will   briefly   lowered   just   under   the  water,   and   then     brought   back   up   again.   Then   you  will  leave  the  baptism  area,  dry  off,  and  go  to  get  changed.

WHAT  SHOULD  I  WEAR  WHEN  I  AM  BAPTIZED?

Men  and  women  can  wear  swimsuits  or  shorts  with  t-‐shirts.

WHO  SHOULD  ATTEND?

We  encourage  you  to  invite  all  your  relatives  and  friends  to  attend  your  baptism.

BAPTISM  CERTIFICATE

The  week  following  your  baptism,  you  will  be  presented  with  a  special  “BAPTISM  CERTIFICATE”    that  you  will  keep  as  a  remembrance  of  this  special  event  in  your  life.
