Bangor University Programmes
The Bangor University programmes give participants the opportunity to
graduate from one of UK’s most respected and well established
institutions. Bangor has an excellent international reputation for
research, particularly in the fields of Banking and Finance. It is ranked in
the top 25 institutions in the world according to the RePEC ranking for
research in banking. The recent “BIBF Graduate Destination Survey”
shows that about 85% of our graduates successfully find a job or pursue
post-graduate study within 12 months of graduation, reflecting the
strong reputation that the programme has built over the years amongst
employers and the quality of our graduates. The degree programmes are
designed to offer a comprehensive scheme of academic study with a
special focus on real life application.
The BIBF offers three diploma streams in partnership with
Bangor University-UK. The programmes aim to offer
students in Bahrain the opportunity to gain
internationally regarded and vocationally relevant
degrees. The three streams offered at BIBF include:
•Validated Diploma in Accounting and Finance
• Validated Diploma in Banking and Finance
• Validated Diploma in Islamic Finance.
After the successful completion of the
Diploma Programme, students can pursue
a relevant BSc degree directly from Bangor
University or from the BIBF (starting from
2018).
Overview

Students have the option to choose one of the following structures:
• 1 year in Bahrain & 2 years at Bangor (UK); or
• 2 years in Bahrain & 1 year at Bangor (UK); or
• 3 years in Bahrain (starting from 2018 for selected BSc programmes).
Course Structure: • Takes three academic years to complete (2 years for the Validated Diploma + the final year)
• Two semesters (from Sep-Jan & from Feb-June).
• Four modules per semester
• A combination of guided-learning and self-study is required
• Sessions are conducted in small groups allowing for maximum support and interaction
• Receive training in the only “Dealing Room” simulation in the region
• Access to internship opportunities and extracurricular activities
• You will be assessed through a mixture of continuous assessment and written examinations.
• You will complete assignments such as collecting and analysing information from commercial databases
or the internet, preparing business case studies, writing essays and completing problem-solving exercises.

Validated Diploma in Accounting and Finance
Description:This programme is designed to offer a comprehensive scheme of academic study, which advances students’ ability to apply a range of
Accounting and Finance skills to practical situations. The programme modules are designed on the basis of the latest requirements of
Accounting and Finance, familiar by the work of professional accountancy bodies including the AAT, ACCA and CIMA. The main subject
groupings are financial and managerial accounting, finance and economics, audit and professional ethics, and accounting information
systems and buiness law. In these subject offerings, there is a natural progression from Year I to Year II. Year I provides an essential
introduction to the subject grouping and equips students with the preliminary practical and intellectual skills necessary for progression to
Year II, which progressively builds on to what has been introduced earlier.
Programme Aims: • To provide a comprehensive theoretical and technical foundation in accounting, auditing and allied subject groups as practiced today
• To produce graduates with the skills and confidence required to undertake entry level accounting positions and enter the job market and
conduct their work with minimal supervision and training
• To provide opportunities for students to develop academically, and where appropriate, prepare them for further study and for a range of
careers

Description:This programme is designed to offer a comprehensive scheme of academic study, which advances students’ ability to apply a range of banking

requirements and practices. The main subject groupings are banking, accounting and finance, quantitaive methods, risk and lending,
management and marketing and banking law. In these subject offerings, there is a natural progression from Year I to Year II. The Year I
provides an essential introduction to the subject grouping and equips students with the preliminary practical and intellectual skills necessary
for progression to Year II, which progressively builds on to what has been introduced earlier.
Programme Aims: • To offer a qualification addressing needs of conventional financial institutions
• To ensure that on completion students will have developed the skills and confidence so they are capable of taking responsibilities of entry
level banking/ finance positions
• To provide opportunities for students to develop academically and prepare them for further study

Programme Aims: • To provide students with an understanding of the jurisprudential and theoretical fundamentals of Islamic Banking and Finance
• To provide an appreciation of the investment regulations relating to the banking industry and to Islamic banks in particular
• To ensure that in complettion of the programme the students whould have developed the skills and confidence required to take the
responsibilities of junior banking positions particulary in the area of Islamic Finance
• To provide opportunities for students to develop academically and prepares them for further study
