• DEV/TEST environments can be built on-demand and evaporated when testing complete - easily, with scripts
• On-demand computing when and where DEV/TEST needs it
• Simple processes to spin up entire environment without hardware costs
• IT is an enabler of greater flexibility thru Azure innovation

By moving the storage and database behind iPortfolio from local systems to a cloud-based platform, Curtin University has made its ongoing IT costs and storage requirements more manageable and predictable. The university has also increased the agility of IT project development, and using the robust functionality of Windows Azure will enhance learning resources for students and staff.
• Unpredictable storage costs / demands – no way for IT to accurately estimate needs
• Hardware provisioning geometrically longer timeline than provisioning Storage in Azure
• Storage replication inherent in Azure solution (e.g. East Coast to West Coast)
• Option to complement with on-premises StorSimple iSCSI SAN as needed
