5th SUNDAY OF EASTER
May 14, 2017
Acts 6:1-7; 1 Peter 2:4-9; John 14:1-12
OUR ADVOCATE
Today Jesus promises the next step. He will
send us a paraclete, an advocate—the Holy
Spirit—to continue his saving work. This is the
hope we all have that keeps the church and us
optimistic despite the troubles of this world.
We need the complete Trinity, in whose names
we are baptized, to lead a life that is “Spirit-
based.” Are you there yet? Text, Philip J. Sandstrom,
STD © 2001, OCP. All rights reserved.
6th SUNDAY OF EASTER
May 21, 2017
Acts 8:5-8, 14-17; 1 Peter 3:15-18; John 14:15-21
ASCENSION
Ascension does not mean Jesus is
gone. Indeed, the Communion
antiphon today echoes the Gospel: “I,
the Lord, am with you always, until the
end of the world, alleluia.” In the time
between the ascension and the second coming, then, our task is to
recognize Christ all around us, especially in the poor; honoring
them is indeed a key part of our Gospel mission.
Jesus commissioned followers to proclaim the Good News and
to follow him, on our earthly journey and to our heavenly
destination. He’s far from gone! He is among us and in us. We are
reflections of his presence in the world. Text, Bryan Cones © 2005 OCP. All

All is well with our journey toward Steubenville on the
Bayou on June 16-18, 2017!! The students have been
working hard along the way from leading The Way of the Cross during the Lenten season to currently
wrapping up the successful Steubenville Sponsorship
Board. On behalf of the youth, we would like to say,
“THANK YOU” to all parishioners, business owners, Sts.
Anne & Anthony Catholic Daughters, the KC Ladies
Auxilliary, and all who donated to the youth by
sponsoring the Steubenville trip. Your generosity is
tremendously appreciated. To show our appreciation,
the students will be “sporting” on the backs of T-Shirts,
the business logos of business owners, who have
donated, as well as, on the fronts of T-Shirts the printed
names of the churches, St Anne/St Anthony in
representation of all parishioners who have donated. This shirt will be worn by all participants during the
Steubenville Conference weekend. Once again, we
humbly say, “Thank you”! The Steubenville Sponsorship
Board was a HUGE success because of YOU. We truly
could not have done this without your support!
