AbouttheTrailTheBruceFreemanRailTrail(BFRT)followstheoldNewHavenRailroadFramingham&LowellLinethroughthecommunitiesofLowell,Chelmsford,Westford,Carlisle,Acton,Concord,Sudbury,andFraminghaminMassachusetts.Phase1(6.8milesinChelmsford,andWestford)isnowopen.Phase2inWestford,Carlisle,Acton,Concord,andSudbury(13.1miles),Phase3inSudburyandFramingham(4.6miles),andtheConcordRiverGreenwayConnectorTrailinLowellandChelmsfordareproposedextensions.

Milemarkingsarepaintedonthepavementeveryquartermile.TheyaremeasuredfromtheLowellterminusoftheoldrailroadlineandalignwithhistoricgranitemileposts.Thefirstmarkingis1.75neartheRt.3terminus.
