AUSTRALIAN PAVOLOVAS
WHAT IS A PAVLOVA? A pavlova is a sweet dish. Pavlova is often called Pav. Pavlova’s have a crisp crust with a soft
inside. Pavlovas are usually served with cream
and fruit but can be topped with chocolate.
WHEN DO YOU EAT A PAVLOVA? A Pavlova is served on ‘special
occasions’ rather than a dessert you have after each meal.
WHO CAME UP WITH IDEA TO MAKE A PAV?
Aus Vs NZ Australian’s believe that it was an
Aussie who first made the Pavlova!
New Zealanders believe that is was a Kiwi who first made a Pavlova!
WHAT IS A PAVLOVA MADE OF? Pavlovas are made from egg whites! The egg whites are ‘whipped’ until they
are stiff then sugar is added to make a crisp outside with a sweet ‘marshmallow’ type inside.
HOW DO YOU MAKE A PAVLOVA? Pavlova’s are shaped like a birds nest. Inside the pavlova (where the egg is) is
filled with whipped cream and fruit! YUM!
TODAY! Today we will make some mini
pavlova’s. (A normal pavlova is about 30cm in
diameter.) Our pavlovas will be about 5 – 8cm.
HOW TO READ A RECIPE There are two parts to a recipe. Ingredients and Method. The ingredients section list all of the
foods that you need to make the pavlova.
The Method will explain how to make the pavlova.
Please wash your hands Get an apron from the front cupboard Tie your hair back
STEP 1 (1.50PM) Get all of your ingredients from the side
bench that are listed in the ingredients section.
Make sure that they are all measured correctly.
STEP 2 Complete the first two points of the
method. You will need to turn the power point on
before setting the temperature. Make sure that the bowl is clean and
DRY! Safe use of the mixers.
STEP 3 Complete points three and four of the
method.
STEP 4 (2.10)Put your pavlova’s in the oven.Begin to whip your cream and cut the fruit.
Safe knife use.
STEP 5 (2.30) Start to clean up. Wash all utensils in the sink with warm
soapy water. Wash all of the benches with warm
soapy water. Dry and put away all utensils and dry
the benches / sinks.
