The deployment is winding down. One thing I would like to stress is that we simply can’t put
out dates of our departure from Qatar. There are probably all kinds of rumors out thereabout
when our return is. I can tell you nothing is official yet so anything you might have heard is just
a rumor. It is imperative that the Soldiers don’t put out the dates of our return. If the dates do
get out it could significantly delay our return to the states. I understand this is very difficult and
exciting time for everyone, There are families attempting to plan vacations and employers look-
ing for their employees to return to work. All I can say is we will be home soon. CPT Spellman

Our pace here in Qatar has
quickened and everyday
brings new and challenging
opportunities. The focus has
turned to our redeployment. I
am sure that everyone back
home has heard all kinds of
rumors about when we will
be returning to the states. It is
a security violation for us to
put out the time of our return
to the states so all I can tell
you is that we will be home
soon. It is hard to believe that
some of us have already been
on this journey for over a
year. There were moments
when time flew and other
moments when time seemed
to stand still. However your
Soldiers have persevered and
we will be back home in no
time. I would like to thank
everyone for their love, sup-
port and prayers throughout
this difficult year. It is the love
and support of those at home
that has allowed for us to be
successful on our mission
here in Qatar. Without the
support of those left behind
this mission would have been
COMMANDER’S CORNER
It brings me great pleasure to
write to you this last newsletter
while here in Qatar. Many of
you that have read these
throughout the months have
probably seen a common theme
or message that has been por-
trayed each and every month.
We talk about promotions, re-
enlistments, babies, birthdays,
events that our Soldiers have
been able to partake in, and most
importantly and probably most
often how proud I am to have
been apart of their successes. It
is very difficult to point out dif-
ferent feats with the Soldiers
assigned here other than their relent-
less work ethic and pace setting goal
raising standards. Our Soldiers have
made this last year not only a pleas-
ant experience regardless of the
situation that we found ourselves, but
a family environment. For that I
would like to say thank you to each
Soldier and Family Member for mak-
ing this time away from my family
and theirs much easier. As we pre-
pare to return home take a moment to
familiarize yourselves with the rein-
tegration tips from the deployment
guides and cherish the time that you
will spend together. God Bless!

FRG SPOTLIGHT
With this being the last newsletter com-
ing out of Qatar, I know that the people
in the USA are more than happy to see
this day coming. As I am sure those of
you who have served this past year are
just as happy. Let us hope that the rest
of the tour goes by fast and we have
everyone home and ready to get back to
their families. How blessed we have
been with this deployment. With my
time being so very short as the FRG
Lead, it is with both joy and
sadness that I will be stepping
down. I have been enriched and
bless more than anyone will
ever know to have the opportu-
nity to be a part of this great
unit. Thanks for letting me be a
part of your lives.

Commanders Cup Events
Soldiers from the 2175th recently participated in two more Commander Cup Events. The
Combat swim and the skills test run. The combat swim involved swimming 50 m in uni-
form with a M16 rifle. The skills test run involved looking at 10 random items for 30 sec-
onds, run a half mile, don, clear, and check your protective mask correctly within 9 sec-
onds, after that run another half mile, then write down the 10 items you looked at in the be-
ginning.
