The expanding Board toured a state-of-the-art Data Dome, hosted a CEM training,distributedawards,and….(waitforit)…hadaparty!Tostarttheyearright,CRCdonated$1,000totheAEEInternationalChapterFundtoassistouroverseascounterparts’traveltotheWEEC.Our evolving board attracted several new members, adding diversity and perspective whilefulfilling natural rotations. Fresh initiative and regular board meetings supported energeticendeavorsandactivity.Given thebreadthanddepthofenergygroupsandprograms inPortland,Oregon, we began exploring coordination, sponsorship and collaboration within our industrynetworks.Effortsatprovidingforumsandtrainingsinsupportofnewutilityenergyinitiativeshaveprovedfruitful.LookoutnextyearfornewtrainingsandaquarterlyEnergyEngineeringForum!The Data Dome Tour was a Saint Paddy’s treat. Oregon Health and Science University’s PerryGliessman,theinventorandcreatorofthisworld-class,one-of-a-kinddatacenter,gaveapersonaltour through his amazing and efficient brainchild. Too cool forwords (or CRACs), onemay takevirtualtourshere:http://www.ohsu.edu/xd/about/initiatives/data-center-west.cfm.For the third year in a row, and sixth time since chapter inception in 2009, CRChosted a value-packed (and catered!) CEM training and exam, at the usual discounted pricing. Future energymanagers received tutelage from the excellent EricWoodroof, and bonus demonstrations of DXcoolingandLEDsystemsbyourhost,thelocalNECA/IBEWtrainingcenter.LastyearCRC initiated theWrenchof theYearAward, whichhonors two true"wrenches" - folksdiligentlyworking intheducts, rafters, floorsandtrenchestomakemachinesrunrightandtight. This year, Don Eaton, Darigold and DanWagner, Brentwood Corp. were honored with the cooltrophy and $500 checks for their grit and gristle of implementing successful mechanical energyimprovements. And with all that, AEE CRC hosted our Holiday Party at the cozy Lompoc Sidebar. A jazz trio, appetizers and libations enveloped happy conversations, associations and nominations. For thethird year, engineers and energy geeks shed their pocket liners and spreadsheets for somecalculatedsocialization.Yesindeed,CRCishelpingtobridgeenergy, engineeringandefficacy!
