Organization Description: The Vancouver folk Music Festival Society is a non-profit organization established in 1979. Over the years the Vancouver Folk Music Festival has played a key role in the development of artists and audiences on a regional, national and international level. The society continues to honour the same traditions with an emphasis on emerging and diverse artists. The 42nd annual festival will take place July 19-21, 2019 Job Description: ReportingtoandunderthedirectionoftheVolunteerManager,theAssistantVolunteerManagerwillrecruitandscreenonlineapplicationsfor1500volunteerpositions.ThepositionwillbeginMay27th,2019andwillrunfor10weeks.Applicantsmustbeavailabletoworktheweekendofthefestival,July19-21,2019. Responsibilities: TheAssistantVolunteerManagerwillworkwiththeVolunteerManageronthefollowing:

Ø Schedulingandrunningorientationsessions Ø Training,andevaluatingtheperformanceofvolunteersandcommunicatingpolicies,practices,

procedures,andoperationalinformationtovolunteers Ø Creating,organizing,andmaintainingrecordsandreportsofthevolunteerprogram,including

database,emaillists,respondingtoinquiriesfromprospectiveVFMFvolunteers Ø Schedulingvolunteersforpre-festivaltasksandactivities Ø RevisingallwebcopyrelatedtoVFMFvolunteerprograms Ø Completingafinalevaluationofprogramwithrecommendationsfor2019. Ø SupportingtheVolunteerManageron-site,andtroubleshootinganyissuesthatmayarisewithin

committeesthroughoutthefestivalweekend. Ø Runningthevolunteerrecognitionprogram.

Otherdutiesinclude:updatingprintmaterialssuchasthevolunteerhandbook,aswellaspoliciesandvolunteerincentiveprogramsfor2019;researchingandcreatingupdatedcommitteeandcrewjobdescriptionsandtimelines;creatinganinventoryofexistingsuppliesandcollecting/deliveringrequestsforsuppliesbycommitteesandcrewsonsite;collectingsizingdataforvolunteert-shirtorderandoverseesortingoft-shirtsfordistributiononsite;assistinreviewingsafetypoliciesandproceduresonsite.

Qualifications:

Ø Aninterestinthearts,andthenon-profitssector Ø Experiencewithvolunteers Ø Initiativeandabilitytoworkindependentlyandaspartofateam Ø Excellentpeopleskills Ø Attentiontodetailandsystems,withtheabilitytomultitask. Ø Exceptionaltimemanagement,verbalandwrittencommunicationskills. Ø Mac-basedcomputerskillspreferred,especiallywithMicrosoftExcel,WordandGoogleDrive Ø ExperienceusingFilemakeranasset

This position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs program. To be eligible for consideration, participants must:

• Be between 15 years and 30 years of age at the start of the employment • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident , or a person to whom refugee protection has been

conferred under the immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment

• Have a Valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulation.
