A certain man went down from Jerusalem toJericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped himof his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him for dead.
Now by chance a certain priest came down thatroad. And when he saw him, he passed by on the
other side. Likewise a Levite [temple assistant],when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side.
Um homem ia descendo de Jerusalm paraJeric. No caminho, alguns ladres o assaltaram, tiraram a sua roupa, espancaram-no e o deixaram
quase morto.

But a certain Samaritan [a people despisedand shunned by the Jews of those days], as he
journeyed, came where he was. And when hesaw him, he had compassion. So he went tohim, bandaged his wounds, brought him to an
inn, and took care of him.On the next day, when he departed, he took
out two silver coins, gave them to theinnkeeper, and said to him, Take care of him;
and whatever more you spend, when I comeagain, I will repay you.
prestou-lhe socorro, tratando as feridas. Depoisdisso, o samaritano conduziu o moribundo parauma hospedaria, onde cuidou dele.

With the story of the Good
Samaritan, Jesus taught that
our neighbor is anyone whoneeds our help. If we have
love, we cant just pass by
someone in need; well take
action, like the Samaritan did.

A rich mans farm produced a big
crop, and he said to himself, What
can I do? I dont have a place large
enough to store everything.
Later, he said, Now I know what Ill
do. Ill tear down my barns and build
bigger ones, where I can store all my
grain and other goods.
Ento ele pensou: Eu no tenho
lugar para guardar a minha colheita. Oque vou fazer?
Ento disse: J sei o que vou fazer!
Vou demolir os meus celeiros econstruir outros maiores. Assim
poderei guardar toda a minha colheita
e todos os meus bens!

But God said to him, You fool! Tonight you
will die. Then who will get what you have
stored up?
The rich man in thisparable wanted to
build bigger
buildings, which was
not so bad in itself
if he had wanted to
do it for the right
reasons, but his
purpose was to
increase his goods
for himself, not to
share with others.
Love for God and
others should
motivate our lives, rather than a pursuit
for our own well-being.
Deus, porm, lhe disse: Tolo! Esta noite a
sua alma lhe ser tirada. Com quem ficaro
todas as coisas que voc guardou?
Esse homem daparbola queria
construir armazns
maiores o que, em
si, no seria to
mau, se a sua
motivao fosse acerta. Mas o seu
propsito era
aumentar os seus
bens para si apenas,
no para
compartilhar com os
demais.
nossas vidas e no apenas a busca pessoal
por bem-estar.

Once a man had two sons. The younger
son said to his father, Give me my share of
the property. So the father divided his
property between his two sons.
Not long after that, the younger son
packed up everything he owned and left fora foreign country, where he wasted all his
money in wild living.

fome, ele
desejava comer
at mesmo das
alfarrobas que os
porcos comiam.Ento o filho
Enquanto o moo ainda estava longe, o pai
o viu e ficou comovido. Ento, correu ao seu
encontro, abraou-o e o beijou.
After he had spent everything, a bad
famine spread through that whole land. Soon
the son had nothing to eat.
He went to work
for a man in thatcountry, and the
man sent him out
to take care of his
pigs.He was so
hungry that he
would have beenglad to eat what the
pigs were eating.
Finally, the
younger son got up
and started back to
his father. But whenhe was still a long
way off, his father
saw him and felt sorry for him. He ran to his
son and hugged and kissed him.

The father said to the servants, Hurry
and bring the best clothes and put them
on him. Give him a ring for his finger and
sandals for his feet. Get the best calf and
prepare it, so we can eat and celebrate.
This son of mine was dead, but has now
come back to life. He was lost and has
now been found. And they began to
celebrate.
Tambm tragam ematem o bezerro gordo. Vamos com-lo enos alegrar. Pois este meu filho estavamorto e voltou a viver; estava perdido e

Gods love is wonderfully sufficient,
unconditional, unlimited, and without
end. He loves us when were up and
when were down. He loves us when we
do things worthy of His praise, and Heloves us even when we do things that
sadden Him. To think that there isnt
even one condition to His love is
truly amazing!
