When cancer killed her mother, KaTrina wasn’t angry with God,
but she was hurting, confused, and sad. With two years of high school to go
and her father moving to a new state, KaTrina decided she wanted to get away and go to a boarding school.
She visited Harbert Hills Academy, but she didn’t think it was the school for her. God had other plans, though, and soon she was moving into the dorm to begin her junior year.
KaTrina had been raised an Adventist—baptized at 7 years old, then re-baptized at 17—but she never had her own personal relationship with God. She had gone to church and heard other people’s testimonies, so she knew all about Him. But she didn’t know Him.
At Harbert Hills, KaTrina discovered that her most valuable lessons don’t come from a classroom. It was by
meeting the staff, going on mission trips, and working in the greenhouse that she saw God for herself. And, as God
has continued to work on her heart, KaTrina has developed her own personal relationship with Him.
It was in Nicaragua, where the students went on a mission trip this year, that KaTrina realized God is calling her to be a missionary. Still growing and learning, she knows that coming to Harbert Hills was God’s plan for her, and she’s eager to see what’s next. She says, “I am looking forward to seeing how God will continue to lead as I get to know Him better.” p

Just 10 DaysThe Mighty Apple
T ooth problems can be painful and expensive.
Since tooth decay is directly linked to bacteria in the mouth, it’s important to keep those levels down. One way to do this is by not snacking. Another is by eating apples.
According to a study at Michigan State University, brushing and rinsing after meals eliminates 65 percent of bacteria in the mouth. The same students ate an apple at the end of a meal and found that it eliminated 97 percent of the bacteria. So next time you eat, finish off with a cleansing bite of apple. p
After 10 days at Our Home Lifestyle Center in Ukraine, Viktor felt
amazing. He was so excited that he told everyone about his recovery from headaches and hypertension!
But no one believed him. They couldn’t imagine 10 days making any difference. So he decided to go again, and take his wife this time.
She was impressed, and Viktor’s feelings were reconfirmed. He joined the staff in church on Sabbath and shared his testimony when the 10 days ended. Before he finished sharing, he said: “I’ve been to many resorts and health centers, both in Russia and Europe. They all offer a lot of amusements, but no real health restoration. I consider this program at Our Home the best health recovery program that I know of.” p
