Port Berth and Causeway Construction: This port envisages the execution of a module offloading facility (MOF), essential to support the
offloading of equipment and building materials at this initial stage of the project, which does not yet have any access by land.
Module Offloading Facility – MOF: The module offloading facility (MOF) will be built using reinforced concrete caissons, which will be pre-
fabricated in Colón and then transported by sea to their deployment site.
MOF protection breakwater: Provisional protection breakwater to protect the MOF from the effects of waves. Access to the MOF will be by the
protection breakwater and landfill for caissons.
Breakwater: Rock-fill breakwater providing access to the berths, to shelter the berth to be built. The breakwater, which extends as a 330 metre
causeway from the coast, will support the coal and concentrate galleries conveyor and provide an access road for maintenance equipment and
personnel.
Commodity berth: The commodity berth will be in an area protected by the breakwater and will provide mooring and berthing capability for
cargo ships up to 10,000 DWT and for 6,000 DWT fuel barges. The berth to be built will be also with a ramp for roll-on/roll-off operations.
