MCHS APPOINTED OFFICER DESCRIPTIONS

Thank you for your interest in becoming an appointed officer of Mt. Carmel Key Club’s 2013-2014 officer board! Please consider the following information carefully and choose positions you feel are best adapted to your capabilities.

The following are responsibilities expected from all appointed officers.

- chair volunteer events on a monthly basis and manage all contact and paperwork required for those events - write and submit weekly articles (150 words per event attended) to the Bulletin Editor - take photos and collect souvenirs at events and submit them to the Historian - attend weekly club meetings on Wednesday - attend weekly officer meetings on Mondays after school in J-2 - attend monthly District Council Meetings and other special district events, including but not limited to: Officer

Training Conference, Regional Training Conference, Fall Rally, District Convention - collaborate with other officers and work towards creating a stronger, unified club

The following are responsibilities expected from each individual appointed position. Remember that these responsibilities are in addition to those listed above. ASSISTANT SECRETARY

- collect weekly slips and tally - record and submit club attendance to the Secretary on a weekly basis - transport materials to and from meetings, or any other club event - assist the Secretary in any way, especially with registration, filing, roster, etc.

ASSISTANT TREASURER

- help collect and submit club dues to Key Club international - submit and follow through with all Purchase Orders and checks - help organize fundraisers and financial reports - seek donations and discounts from local businesses when appropriate - attend training for Finance Office Regulations - assist the Treasurer in any way

BULLETIN EDITOR - create a newsletter to be issued on the second Wednesday of every month consisting of, but not limited to: a President’s

message, activities articles, pictures, Key Club pledge, member of the month, contacts, upcoming activities, fun extras - collect and submit articles when appropriate to: D37S newsletter, CNH Key, local newspaper, Kiwanis Division

newsletter, Mt. Carmel Messenger, Mt. Carmel SUN newspaper (work jointly with Publicity chair) - maintain a knowledge of graphic standards and apply to all work - compile an award binder for District Convention

WEBMASTER - create and maintain our club website (recommended but not required to have experience using HTML and Javascript) - troubleshoot any bugs or technical difficulties that occur - maintain a knowledge of graphic standards and apply to all work - post: event information, links, bulletins, photos, contacts, calendar, hours, spirit cheers, messages from the officer board,

updates from activities, and anything else necessary - submit website to Key Club District for District Convention

K E Y C L U B

HISTORIAN - attend a majority of club activities and take pictures/videos and collect memorabilia (if not able to attend, ensure that

other officers will collect needed documentation) - upload and organize photos onto a social media platform available to all members (Facebook, Photobucket, Picasa, etc.) - create the Year in Review digital or traditional scrapbook for District Convention

K-FAMILY CHAIR - attend Kiwanis meetings (1st Monday of every month, from 7:30pm – 8:30pm at the Mt. Carmel Church of the Nazarene) - serve as a liaison with local Key Clubs and Kiwanis - help organize activities/projects for our sponsored Builders Club at Black Mountain Middle School - oversee preparations for Kiwanis One Day, Miracle Mile of Quarters, and other Kiwanis projects - compile an award binder for District Convention

PROJECTS COMMISSIONER

- actively seek new contacts, events, and projects on the club, divisional, and international level - plan a variety of service activities in the school and community - schedule and assist with special MCKC events such as Induction and Banquet - create a system for keeping track of contact information for ongoing and future projects

PUBLICITY/SPIRIT CHAIR

- regularly create and post flyers and posters to publicize club meetings and activities - contact school and local newspapers when appropriate and submit articles (work jointly with Bulletin Editor) - maintain a positive relationship between our club and our school/community - encourage involvement of members in Key Club at the school and divisional level - implement creative and unique ways (such as spirit gear) of spreading Key Club knowledge and spirit

DIGITAL MEDIA CHAIR - make video advertisements for the MCHS weekly broadcasts to promote Key Club projects and fundraisers - create posters digitally for distribution on the Internet and throughout the school - utilize social media (i.e. Facebook) to provide updates to members - communicate information effectively through both visuals and writing - work together with Publicity/Spirit chair and Webmaster to keep members well informed - place notices in both the bulletin and weekly video broadcast

SINGLE-SERVICE CHAIR - plan and coordinate the year’s ongoing Single Service Projects (St. Vincent de Paul and Ronald McDonald House or a

project of your choice)

- attend all Single Service Project events and manage all paperwork related to the project - compile an award binder for District Convention

*Positions for Freshmen Representatives will be available in October for incoming freshmen
