Application Board Using TA8210D + SP4T switch
- This Application board showcases our 20W PA TA8210D with our
30W SP4T TS7441L switch where we match VHF, UHF and
800/900MHz band on the individual paths of the switch. Pout is
around 41dBm for VHF and UHF and 40dBm for 800/900MHz. In this
approach, we can optimize performances like gain, efficiency and
harmonics for the individual narrow bands compared to a
broadband match.

Additional heatsinking was used to maintain this temp.

PA + Switch Board Operating Instructions
1. SETUP SWITCH FOR DESIRED OUTPUT PORT.
1.1. Set DIP Switch V1 and V2 positions as follows to select RF output port
V1, V2, 0, and 1 positions are marked on the PC Board
Output Port V1 V2
RF1 - 800 MHz Off (0, Left) Off (0, Left)
RF2 - UHF On (1, Right) Off (0, Left)
RF4 - VHF On (1, Right) On (1, Right)
2. PA TURN ON SEQUENCE
2.1. Connect selected output port to 50 Ω load
2.2. Apply -5.5 V to Vgg terminal
2.3. Connect power supply to Vdd terminal.
2.3.1. Start at 0.00 volts, then SLOWLY increase to + 24 or 28 V
2.3.2. Monitor Vdd supply current (Id), stop increasing Vdd if Id exceeds 20 mA
2.4. SLOWLY raise Vgg (toward zero volts) until Id = 70-80 mA (Vgg should be between -2.95 V to -3.1V)
2.5. Apply RF drive to RF input port.
3. PA TURN OFF SEQUENCE 3.1. Remove RF drive from RF input port.
3.2. Decrease Vdd to zero volts.
3.3. Return Vgg to -5.5 V setting.
