Some news about IPBES…Since February 2014 we have:

• Established the Secretariat in Bonn (10 people)

• Initiated the IPBES Work Programme (2014-2018):– 2 full assessments

• Pollinators, pollination & food production• Scenarios & modeling

– Planning (“Scoping”) for future assessments on:• Diverse conceptualisation of values of biodiversity and ecosystem services• Land degradation and restoration• Regional assessments of biodiversity and ES (and later a global assessment)

– Several task forces• Catalyse generation of new knowledge (DIVERSITAS; Future Earth)• Capacity Building• Develop approaches to bring in Indigenous and Local Knowledge

1-DIVERSITAS can be proud for the role it played in the establishment of IPBES

Multidisciplinary Expert Panel (independence and credibility)

• During the implementation (now)– Involvement in expert groups (assessments)

– Involvement in governance (Member of MEP)

• Seek nomination from your government or from an organisation– As a MEP member– As an expert to carry out an

assessment

In Future Earth

• Contribute to building a vibrant biodiversity community within Future Earth, building on the DIVERSITAS legacy
