INTRODUCTION
GLP for animal facilities is intended to assure qualities maintenance and safety of animal used in laboratory studies while conducting biomedical and behavioral research and testing of products
CPCSEA(Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision on Experiment on Animal )
The most commonly used animals:- Frog , Guinea Pig Mouse , Rat , Rabbit , Monkey Cat , Dog , Sheep
ANIMAL HOUSE DESIGNING
KEY COMPONENTS IN DESIGN Animal holding rooms Procedure rooms Washing area Storage Waste area Corridor Furniture and equipment Animal watering systems
ANIMAL HOUSE DESIGNING
Animal Holding Rooms :- Building Material :- Moisture proof, Fire resistant ,
Seamless materials are most desirable for interior surfaces
Corridor :- It should be wide enough to facilitate the movement of personnel as well as equipment’s and should be kept clean
Floors :- Floors should be smooth ,moisture proof , skid proof,
ANIMAL HOUSE DESIGNING
Storage Area:-Separate storage area should be designed for feed , bedding , cages and materials not in use . Refrigerated storage is essential for storage of dead animals and animal tissue waste.
Animal Room Doors:-Doors should be rust , vermin and dust proof . They should fit properly within their frames provided with an observation window. Rodent barrier can be provided in the doors of the small animal facilities.
ANIMAL HOUSE DESIGNING
Walls and Ceilings:- Walls should be free of cracks. Temperature and humidity control:- Air conditioning is
an effective means of regulating these environmental parameters for laboratory animals.
Power and Lighting:- Lighting system be installed that provides adequate illumination while people are working in the animal rooms and a lowered intensity of light for the animals. Emergency power should be available in the event of power failure.
ANIMAL HOUSE DESIGNING
Noise Control:- Noise control is an important in consideration in designing an animal facility. Concrete wall are more effective than metal or plaster walls containing noise because their density reduces sound transmission.
Physical separation of animals by species is recommended to prevent inter-species disease transmission and to eliminate anxiety and possible physiological and behavioral changes due to inter-species conflict.

FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE ANIMAL RESEARCH
Physical & Environmental Factors Noise Room Temperature Lighting System Relative humidity Building Fluid and Water
VETERINARY CARE
Animals should be observed regularly and problems of animal health and behavior recorded & addressed
Diseased animals should be isolated from healthy ones Personnel hygiene & Training of staff Initial in-house training should be imparted to the staff
associated with animal facility Appropriate & protective gears (gloves masks head
cover shoes Personnel should have periodic medical checkups to
ensure their health status
RECRRD KEEPING
Animal facilities should have following records Animal house plan Name & addresses of the staff Health record of staff Training record of staff involved in animal care &
procedures Animal stock procurement & supply register Experimental records Clinical record of sick animal & any treatment
administered
CONCLUSION
In the given study I have conclude that there are different guidelines which must followed by us for better animal studies & better result. There are so many parameters which are affecting animal health & before going for animal study all the factors should be studied for proper designing of animal house.
