    Using a medium lineweight ( I use Micron Size 03) , draw an imperfect circle and fill it in with smaller imperfect circles .

    Add dif ferent lengths of sl ightly curved l ines upwards with an oval on the end of each one. (See YouTube video for details on this ! )

    Add 5 imperfect petals around the outside of your flower.

    6 Using a thicker l ineweight ( I use Micron Size 05) , go over the petals and add shading where the petals overlap for contrast .

    Voilà! A front-view anemone!

    Continue adding overlapping petals around your original 5, in varying shapes and sizes.

    Using a thinner l ineweight ( I use Micron Size 01) , begin adding detail l ines.Always use sl ightly CURVED l ines, not straight l ines.Point your detail l ines towards the CENTER of the flower.

    Using a medium lineweight ( I use Micron Size 03) , draw your bean-shaped front petal .

    Add in the detailed center , drawing sl ightly curved l ines upwards with an oval on the end of each one. (See YouTube video for details on this ! )

    Add your larger back petal on top, keeping it imperfect !

    Continue adding imperfect petals around the outside of your flower.

    7 Using a thicker l ineweight ( I use Micron Size 05) , go over the petals and add shading where the petals overlap for contrast .

    Voilà! A side-view anemone!

    Add a simple stem (2 l ines) from the bottom of the flower. Try not to make these l ines perfectly straight.

    Using a medium lineweight ( I use Micron Size 03) , draw two imperfect center circles .

    Fi l l in your circles with tiny detail circles , more dense towards the edges of each circle.

    Add petals around the edge of the center . Keep them imperfect , around their edges, but roughly the same LENGTH to form another imperfect circle.

    Continue adding more rows of overlapping petals , unti l you’re happy with the size of your flower. Remember, your circle should be IMPERFECT.

    Using a medium lineweight ( I use Micron Size 03) , begin drawing the imperfect center petals .

    Complete the center by adding a top petal , two small folds inside, and darketing the middle.

    Add two side petals with folds.

    Add three more petals on the upper side.

    5 Start adding petals on the bottom edge.

    Continue adding petals around the edges, overlappnig with the existing ones.

    Add more petals around the edges unti l you are happy with the size. Remember- you want it to be rounded, but not a perfect circle!

    Add petals around the edge of the center . Keep them imperfect . Petals on top should be longer, petals on the bottom should be shorter .

    Optional : first , draw an oval with a pencil (as seen in red here!)

    Add a second row of petals overlapping behind the first row. Then add your stem.

    Using a medium lineweight ( I use Micron Size 03) , draw a “bean-shape” for the center . Don’t worry about making this perfect !

    Add petals on either side, rounding towards the top. Don’t make them perfectly symmetrical .

    Add a petal on the top to round out the center , and add in some smaller petals on the inside.

    Add top and bottom petals starting to fold out, then add your side petals with folds.

    Continue adding petals around the sides, incorporating folds where appropriate.

    Using a thinner l ineweight ( I use Micron Size 01) , begin adding detail l ines.Always use CURVED l ines, not straight l ines.Point your detail l ines towards the CENTER of the flower.Leave the outside of the folds empty.

    Using a thicker l ineweight ( I use Micron Size 05) , go over the petals and add shading where the petals overlap for contrast .

    Voilà! A peony!

    PEONY BUDUSE THE STEP-BY-STEP BELOW TO DRAW YOUR OWN!

    3 Add contrast and shading l ines in the same way you did for the open peony!

    Repeat steps 1-3 from the open peony to draw your center .

    Add a simple stem and leaves.
