Peter Suciu - Gun Writer
USA --(Ammoland.com)- To say that Peter Suciu has a passion for
history is an understatement.
He has been a collector of militaria, specializing in military headgear of
the 19th and 20th century since his great uncle and decorated World
War II veteran Louis Suciu bought Peter his first helmet back in 1981.
Now 30 years later, Peter has written countless articles on military
helmets, firearms and military history, and is the co-author of two books
about military helmets, Military Sun Helmets of the World and
The Wolseley Helmet in Pictures: From Omdurman to El
Alamein.
As a result of his passion for military history he has dragged his wife, and
fellow writer, Enid Burns to countless military museums, castles,
fortresses and other obscure historical sites around the world. In this
time he’s seen some of the finest collections of firearms, including those
in London, Paris, Rome, Venice, Cairo and Tokyo.
As a professional freelance writer and journalist with nearly 20 years
experience, Peter’s work has appeared in nearly 100 media outlets
including Newsweek, Reader’s Digest, Forbes, CNBC.com, CNN.com and
MSNBC.com. He is a former Web editor and producer for FoxNews.com,
where he helped manage the websites for The O’Reilly Factor and
FoxNews Sunday. He has appeared on TV several dozen times appearing
on CBS Morning News, Business Week TV, MSNBC, CNN, Headline
News, German TV 1, TV Tokyo and the BBC World News.
On the subject of military history he has been a regular contributor to
Armchair General magazine, Military Heritage, Military Trader and
Military Vehicles for more than a decade.
Peter remains a crusader for Second Amendment rights, and is the
executive editor of the Website FirearmsTruth.com, which was launched
in early 2009 to expose, track and report on media bias against guns.
The site has garnered the attention of the firearms community, and Peter
has spoken on the subject of firearms laws, ownership and Second
Amendment rights in several public forums.
Military Sun Helmets of the World
With the help of FirearmsTruth’s managing editor John Kullman, Peter
co-authored the book America’s Road to Fascism: From the
Progressives to the Era of Hope and Change, which was published
in the fall of 2010. This book chronicles the rise of socialism and fascism
in the United States over the past 125 years and looks at growing
concerns that include the devaluation of the American dollar, the loss of
freedoms and, of course, issues over the Second Amendment rights.
Peter Suciu is a member of the National Rifle Association, The Company
of Military Historians and The Ohio Valley Military Society. He regularly
attends large events including the annual SHOT Show (Shooting,
Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show) and the National Gun Day show in
Louisville. He has covered these events for the media, recently reporting
on national firearms sales for CNBC.com.
As a collector Peter’s tastes for firearms are those of a historic nature,
and he’s written extensively about the British Martini Henry Rifle , the
gun that was the peacekeeper for the Empire for Which The Sun Never
Set, and for Russian and Soviet era firearms from the Mosin Nagent to
the AK-47 and everything in between. In the summer months Peter can
be found at the range firing off 7.62x54mmR.
Peter also covers trends in fitness, and in 2010 helped launch
KineticShift.com, a website devoted to the convergence of fitness and
technology. He is also a contributor to BikeRadar.com, and puts in many
miles on his road bike before heading to the range.

NRA Officer of the Year
Arkansas Game & Fish Commission
LITTLE ROCK, AR --(Ammoland.com)- The National Rifle
Association last week recognized Wildlife Officer Michael K. Neal of the
Arkansas Game and Fish Commission as NRA’s 2010 Law Enforcement
Officer of the Year.
Neal will receive the award during the group’s fall meeting in Virginia.
Neal was named officer of the year for his heroic actions May 20, 2010,
when he received a call for assistance after West Memphis Police
Department officers Brandon Paudert and Bill Evans were killed during
a traffic stop on Interstate 40.
When Neal arrived at a West Memphis parking lot, the two suspects in
the officers’ deaths were in a van and engaged in a firefight with
Crittenden County Sheriff Dick Busby and Chief Deputy W.A. Wren.

Arkansas Game & FishCommission Wins TwoImportant Legal CasesMAR 09, 2011 04:40P.M.
Arkansas Game & Fish Commission Wins Two Important
Legal Cases
Arkansas Game & Fish Commission
LITTLE ROCK, AR --(Ammoland.com)- The Arkansas Game and Fish
Commission won two important legal battles last week.
The Arkansas Court of Appeals upheld the conviction of Wendell “Dutch”
Noe of Lake City March 2. Noe violated AGFC regulations on captive-
raised ducks.
The following day, the Arkansas Supreme Court upheld the dismissal of a
lawsuit by James Dockery of Little Rock that aimed to prevent the AGFC
from using funds it receives from natural gas leases.
Noe previously had been in business raising, shipping and releasing
mallards in Arkansas and other states, and had refused to comply with
state regulations and conditions contained in a Wildlife Breeder/Dealer
Permit.
Those regulations and permit conditions require keeping captive ducks
in enclosed areas and prohibit releasing the birds into the wild except
under limited circumstances. Noe sued the AGFC in federal courts
between December 2004 and 2006, claiming that the federal Migratory
Bird Treaty Act provided for exclusive regulation of duck breeding and
shooting activities, and that the more restrictive requirements enforced
by the AGFC were illegal.
The federal courts ruled against Noe and upheld the AGFC’s regulatory
authority. Noe was later prosecuted in state court in 2007 for continuing

5
his mallard activities contrary to the state requirements. Noe was
convicted in district court in St. Francis County and fined, but then
appealed to St. Francis County Circuit Court. Following a new trial in
March 2010, Noe was convicted once again and fined $2,500. Last week,
the Arkansas Court of Appeals rejected Noe’s arguments that U.S.
treaties entered into with other countries for protecting migratory birds
“preempt” the AGFC regulations and affirmed Noe’s criminal conviction.
Dockery filed his lawsuit in Pulaski County Circuit Court in 2009
alleging that by entering into natural gas leases on certain wildlife
management areas, the AGFC had violated Amendment 35 to the
Arkansas Constitution, which charges the AGFC with the duty to
manage, conserve and restore the state’s wildlife resources. Dockery
asked that the gas lease revenue received by AGFC be transferred from
the AGFC’s Game Protection Fund to the State Treasury’s general fund.
The Supreme Court ruled March 3 that the AGFC had acted within its
legal authority under Amendment 35 to the Arkansas Constitution when
it entered into mineral leases with natural gas operators, and that the gas
lease revenue received by the AGFC cannot legally be diverted from the
AGFC Game Protection Fund to the state’s general fund. It also ruled
that the agency had properly followed mineral leasing statutes that had
been enacted by the Legislature.
The Supreme Court also said that any potential diversion of the agency’s
gas revenue would be tantamount to a diversion of license revenue, in
violation of mandatory U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service regulations.
In the 6-0 ruling, with Justice Karen Baker not participating, the high
court rejected all five points on which Dockery had based his appeal. A
final argument, seeking injunctive relief, was therefore moot.
AGFC Director Loren Hitchcock welcomed the ruling.
“We are very pleased with the Supreme Court’s decision,”
Hitchcock said. “It affirmed that the AGFC had acted within
its legal authority under Amendment 35 when we entered
into the mineral leases with the natural gas exploration
companies. We have granted a portion of these funds to the
Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality to hire
additional inspectors in the Fayetteville Shale area.”

trafficking investigations tactics employed by the Bureau of Alcohol,
Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Those tactics have allegedly allowed firearms to fall into the hands of
Mexican criminal organizations, with the knowledge of the BATFE.
In the letters sent to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith
(R-Texas) and Ranking Member, John Conyers (D-Mich.) and their
counterparts in the U.S. Senate, Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) and
Ranking Member Charles Grassley (R-Iowa), Cox wrote that the BATFE
project “reportedly allowed over 2,000 firearms to be sold to individuals
already linked to Mexican drug cartels.
Many of those transactions were reported as suspicious by the licensed
firearms dealers themselves, but BATFE reportedly encouraged them to
proceed with these sales, which the dealers would otherwise have turned
down.”
Cox also called on the committees to look into the BATFE responses to
inquiries about these suspect programs, stating “Any investigation
should also examine the responses by the BATFE and the Department of
Justice to earlier congressional inquiries about the ‘Fast and Furious’
program.”

Shooting Ranges Under Attack in Sussex County Virgina
Your immediate action needed to defeat this proposal. Public Hearing
and Vote Scheduled for March 17th.
Virginia Shooting Sports Association
Virginia - -(Ammoland.com)- The Sussex County Planning Commission
and the Sussex County Board of Supervisors (BOS) will hold a joint
public hearing to consider passage of a new ordinance regulating gun
ranges in Sussex County.
It should be noted that the planning commission is the originator of this
proposal, not the BOS.
While couched in language to make it appear that the planning
commission is only concerned with the safe operation of shooting ranges,
the real intent becomes clear when you read the requirements to open a
new range – that purpose is to make the task so onerous and expensive
that no one would seek to open a range in Sussex County.
It would also make expansion of existing ranges all but impossible.
Eventhough the proposal grandfather’s existing ranges, any existing
range seeking to expand would likely lose their grandfather status. They
would then have to abide by the onerous and costly process set forth in
the proposal.
In addition, while the propsoal states that the county may submit any
range proposal to the NRA for comment, the county would reserve the
right to dismiss comments in favor of new ranges.
In short, this proposal is an all out attack on new and existing shooting
ranges in Sussex County. You can view the full proposal below.
Your attendance at the March 17th Board of Supervisor’s meeting is

needed to defeat this proposal.
This is becoming an all too familiar story in Virginia. Recreational
shooters, firearm enthusiasts and land-owners are being driven away
from their shooting sports heritage by bureaucratic hurdles and red-tape.
If you are a gun owner living in Sussex County or you shoot
competitively or for fun at a club or range currently located in the
county, it is important that you attend this public hearing and voice your
opposition to this proposed ordinance.

Horus Vision
San Bruno, CA --(Ammoland.com)- As of now, CATS stands for
Calibration & Training System.
Since long range shooting requires elevation and windage adjustments to
accurately engage distant targets, it is apparent that a riflescope’s
elevation and windage adjustment knobs have to yield precise and
accurate adjustments.
When a rifleman egages distant targets and misses, he usually blames
the ammo, the rifle and finally himself. The riflescope is almost never
looked at as a contribution to errors.
The rifleman has spent a lot of money on his riflescope. He falsely
assumes it is a perfectly calibrated optical instrument for shooting.
Since no low tech, affordable riflescope testing system existed in the
public domain, Horus Vision invented CATS to fill the void. CATS is
designed specifically to be used at 100 yards/meters. You do not need a
500, 1000, or 2000 yard/meter range.
In the course of testing and development, we discovered the CATS
targets had additional value. In addition to elevation and windage, you
can identify problems with cant, run-out (the point on elevation where
the scope no longer tracks perpendicular), and establish maximal
elevation.

Sniper School vs CollegeEducationMAR 09, 2011 02:00P.M.
Sniper School vs College Education
By Bryce Jensen
Horus Vision
San Bruno, CA --(Ammoland.com)- A sniper looks through his scope
waiting anxiously to place his crosshairs on the target.
He breathes in, then out. He slowly squeezes the trigger, and takes the
shot.
Before all this can happen, a sniper has to learn how to plan out the
correct route and select a firing position.
Next, he needs to learn how to move swiftly, and silently to keep him
from being seen or heard.
Finally, he needs to learn how to shoot at great distances and adjust
correctly for wind. These skills are taught at the sniper school. Once a
regular infantryman learns these skills, he becomes one of the deadliest
assets on the battlefield.
Although, not everyone is a military sniper, life can be related to a

14
battlefield. Having more skills and knowledge in battle will increase
chances of survival. Having more skills and knowledge in life will
increase chances for success. Life offers college instead of sniper school.
College is a gateway for young adults to gain the knowledge and skills
needed to enter the battle of life. In college, a student learns a vast array
of knowledge necessary for survival, shaping character, and success in
the business world.
For many students, college is the first time being away from home. This
is where some basic survival skills are developed, such as budgeting and
time management. It is the first time that a miscalculation could
determine whether a student has food or a roof overhead. Money
delinquency will also affect credit scores in the future. When time is
mismanaged it can result in loss of sleep or even failure of a class.
Reoccurring failure, which could have been easily prevented, or
insufficient budgeting are surely the fastest ways of ending life as a
student.
Being away from family can be a hard transition. It can make people feel
uncomfortable leading to stress. A key part in battle is learning how to
deal with hardships and continue on to accomplish the mission. College
is a great opportunity to transform perseverance into a habit. Stress can
also be caused by deadlines, exams, or even social problems. Those who
are not afraid and learn to work under stress will excel in all aspects of
life not just in school.
In order to become a sniper, a soldier has to be the best. To be defined as
the best, one must compete against others. College is a competitive
atmosphere. The entire process of applying to college promotes
competition. All universities have some sort of application process to
screen incoming students making sure each one meet the prerequisites.
Many schools only accept a percentage of applicants every year. It is
imperative to stand out and be at the top of the lists whether coming
straight out of high school or transferring from a community college.
After college, life becomes even more competitive when searching for a
job. Being at the top of every class may increase the chances of being
hired for certain jobs. Furthermore, a competitive person has the drive to
get the job that he or she desires. By exercising competition in college a
person will be familiar with the amount of effort needed to produce
favorable results.
In a business aspect, college is like boot camp where people develop good
habits and essential skills. Part of developing good habits is breaking bad
ones. Some of the skills obtained belong to a specific field, which leads to
getting a degree. Many times employers want to see a degree even if it’s
not relative to the occupation. The degree then becomes a statement to
an employer that the applicant has the commitment and discipline
needed to attain a goal. This demonstrates reliability and stability. Of
course some occupations do require a specific degree. In contrast, if bad
habits are not recognized and dealt with, getting a degree will become
much more difficult.
While in college students make allies, former classmates, for future
networking. Some of them will come from different parts of a city, state,
country or even the world. Perhaps a student meets a person only once
but they made a lasting impression that lands them a job in the future.
Broadening the spectrum of people one knows will help them familiarize
or at least recognize different customs from different cultures. This is all
part of developing situational awareness. A person who knows the
interests and backgrounds about the people surrounding them can use
that knowledge for personal gains or avoid making a bad impression.
This is very important since cultural awareness is a key part to success in
today’s internationally driven business world.
College molds a person through exposure to many different ideas. New
ideas may arise from new classes, clubs, or organizations. Sometimes
clubs or organizations can help define what one stands for. For instance,
the Humanitarian Club may teach about inhumane violence taking place
in the war on Terrorism. This may inspire a person to speak out against
the situation. Activists on campus may encourage voting, or action
against global warming. A psychology class may explain why people sub-
consciously try so hard to fit common expectations of society. Each new
experience slightly or greatly impacts personal values and principles. By
having values and principles one can truly make a difference in this
world.
If you can’t shoot, sniping may not be the best choice. College allows a
student to view a large amount of careers. With hundreds of different
majors to choose from, the possibilities are almost endless. If one does
not fit, a student has the ability to change the classes they are taking and
reroute their course. Through this trial process, one learns to identify
their strengths and weaknesses; likes and dislikes. Knowing one’s
strengths and weaknesses allows a person to choose their own path.
Like most things, the college experience is determined by the level of
effort put into it and what is taken from it. College invites new lessons
and experiences that can contribute to success. Separate oneself from the
grunts (ordinary foot soldiers) like a sniper. A sniper’s target is like a
personal goal. The only way to hit the target is to practice. College will
give the practice and confidence needed to hit that goal. It is up to
student to pull the trigger.
Bryce Jensen was a Marine Sniper who used the GI Bill to
get a college education. This was the first essay he wrote
after his military service, which received an A+ and has
been used by the professor as an exemplary essay to instruct
other students within the course.

Secretary Salazar AnnouncesFunding for WetlandsAcquisitions & Grants for BirdHabitat ConservationMAR 09, 2011 01:54P.M.
Secretary Salazar Announces Funding for Wetlands
Acquisitions & Grants for Bird Habitat Conservation
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
Washington, DC --(Ammoland.com)- Secretary of the Interior Ken
Salazar announced today that the Migratory Bird Conservation
Commission (MBCC) has approved more than $3.5 million in land
acquisitions at three National Wildlife Refuges.
The projects are supported by the Migratory Bird Conservation Fund,
which includes proceeds from the sales of the Migratory Bird Hunting
and Conservation Stamp, otherwise known as the Federal Duck Stamp.
These approvals will add an estimated 1,300 acres of vital waterfowl
habitat to the National Wildlife Refuge System.
“Wetlands provide many ecological, economic, and social
benefits, such as habitat for fish, wildlife, and a variety of
plants. They serve as nurseries for saltwater and freshwater
fishes and shellfish of commercial and recreational
importance,” said Secretary Salazar. “We value our nation’s
Great Outdoors, and these additions to the National Wildlife
Refuge System will help keep our wetlands safe and provide
Americans astounding wildlife viewing opportunities.”
The following acquisitions were approved today:
• Lower Hatchie National Wildlife Refuge Lauderdale and Tipton
Counties, Tennessee – Acquisition of 625 acres for $1,880,000.
The tract lies in the Hatchie River Basin, which contains a mix of
bottomland hardwoods, grasslands, and flood-prone agricultural
land. The Service plans to restore this tract to its former forested
state and manage it for waterfowl and other migratory birds.
• Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge Washington and Yamhill
Counties, Oregon – Acquisition of 32 acres in fee title for
$275,000. Various creeks seasonally flood this agricultural tract,
making it extremely attractive to wintering and migrating
waterfowl. The Service plans to restore habitat and manage the
land for waterfowl, especially tundra swans.
• Tulare Basin Wildlife Management Area Kern and Tulare Counties,
California – Acquisition of an easement of 656 acres for
$1,425,700. These three perpetual conservation easements will add
to the growing chain of easements in this area. These wetlands
attract many waterfowl species, including northern pintails,
northern shovelers, gadwalls, and green-winged teal.
The Commission also approved more than $29 million (pending FY2011
funding) in federal grants under the North American Wetlands
Conservation Act (NAWCA) for projects that will help to protect, restore
and enhance more than 85,000 acres of wetlands and associated habitats
across the United States and Mexico. If Congress approves FY2011
funding, these grants will support 26 projects in 17 states under
NAWCA’s U.S. Standard Grants Program.
Projects include:
Ark-La-Miss Wetlands Conservation II, Arkansas, Louisiana –
Clay, Desha, Prairie, White and Woodruff Counties, AR and Concordia
and Tensas Parishes, LA This project builds on efforts to acquire,
protect, restore and enhance wetland habitats in the Lower Mississippi
Valley to offset the habitat losses of the previous century. Activities will
include enhancement of ecologically diverse wetland habitats that will
provide foraging, nesting, or roosting habitat for a number of waterfowl
species and other wetland-dependent migratory birds. Partners will also
improve or enhance other wetland values and functions by improving
local and regional water quality, providing natural flood storage capacity
and enhancing soil conservation by reducing sediment in precipitation
runoff. Six of the nine project tracts are publicly owned and will be
available for public use and access.
Coastal Marin Wetlands Restoration Project II, California –
Marin County, California This project aims to protect – through
acquisition and restoration – estuarine, riparian and floodplain areas,
with a goal of eliminating habitat fragmentation and establishing a
network of healthy wetlands and adjacent habitats in Point Reyes
National Seashore and Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Partners
will restore natural processes and transitional habitat to increase
resilience to environmental change; augment forage for migratory birds;

restore riparian corridors to benefit neotropical migrants, waterfowl, and
endangered fish; and revitalize habitats for resident and wintering
wildlife, including colonial waterbirds and threatened and endangered
species. More than 400 species of wildlife use habitats within the project
area for wintering, migration, and/or breeding habitat.
Partners in these projects will contribute an additional $70.5 million in
matching funds. Grants are funded by annual Congressional
appropriations; penalties and forfeitures levied under the Migratory Bird
Treaty Act; interest accrued on funds under the Pittman-Robertson
Wildlife Restoration Act; and excise taxes paid on small engine fuels
through the Dingell-Johnson Sport Fish Restoration Fund. For more
information on these grant programs information is available on the web
at:
http://wsfrprograms.fws.gov/Subpages/GrantPrograms/SFR/SFR.htm
http://wsfrprograms.fws.gov/Subpages/GrantPrograms/WR/WR.htm
The Commission also approved more than $3 million in NAWCA grants
for nine projects in Mexico. These projects involve habitat acquisition,
restoration, enhancement and creation.
Projects include:
Habitat Protection for Migratory Birds in Bahia Magdalena-
Almejas Wetland Complex, Phase II – Bahia Magdalena-Almejas
wetland corridor and Laguna de Hiray, Valle de Santo Domino,
Municipality of Comondu, Baja California Sur, Mexico Partners in this
project will acquire coastal wetlands in the Ejido Santo Domingo, and
develop an ecological baseline of new parcels in Santo Domingo and in
Laguna de Hiray for implementing long-term habitat conservation.
Protection and Management of Laguna Babicora, Chihuahua,
Phase II – Mexican northern State of Chihuahua This project will help
acquire more than 450,000 acres to become part of the Federal Natural
Protected Area System. Partners will also protect critical wetland habitat
through conservation easements, enhance habitat by reducing excess
sedimentation, and conduct waterfowl monitoring and conservation
planning.
These grants will be matched by more than $19.4 million in partner
contributions and will directly affect more than 738,315 acres of
wetlands and associated habitats in 13 Mexican states. In addition to
habitat acquisition, restoration, enhancement and management
activities, NAWCA projects in Mexico can also involve technical training,
education, sustainable-use studies, or organizational infrastructure
building needed to develop or strengthen wetlands conservation and
management capabilities.
Final funding for all NAWCA projects will be dependent on the final
Fiscal Year 2011 budget. In the absence of funding at the President’s
request for FY2011, many of these projects will not be accomplished and
conservation benefits will be lost.
Established by law in 1929, the Migratory Bird Conservation
Commission has approved the acquisition of more than 43,000 acres of
quality waterfowl habitat at national wildlife refuges and in the northern
Midwest’s Prairie Pothole Region, all using MBCF dollars.
Since 1929, the Migratory Bird Conservation Commission has met
several times each year to consider MBCF land purchases and, starting in
1989, to approve NAWCA grant proposals.
Commission members include: Chairman – Ken Salazar, Secretary of the
Interior Thad Cochran, Senator from Mississippi Mark Pryor, Senator
from Arkansas John D. Dingell, Congressman from Michigan Robert J.
Wittman, Congressman from Virginia Tom Vilsack, Secretary of
Agriculture Lisa Jackson, Administrator, Environmental Protection
Agency Secretary – A. Eric Alvarez, Chief, Division of Realty, Fish and
Wildlife Service For more information about the Commission visit
http://www.fws.gov/refuges/realty/mbcc.html.
Passed in 1989, NAWCA provides matching grants to organizations and
individuals who have developed partnerships to carry out wetlands
conservation projects in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The Act
was passed in part to support activities under the North American
Waterfowl Management Plan, an international agreement that provides a
strategy for the long-term protection of wetlands and associated upland
habitats needed by waterfowl and other migratory birds in North
America. More information about NAWCA grant programs and projects
approved today is available on the Web at:
http://www.fws.gov/birdhabitat/Grants/NAWCA/Standard/index.shtm.
Under NAWCA, some 4,440 partners involved in more than 2,000
projects have received more than $1.08 billion in grants. They have
contributed another $2.24 billion in matching funds to affect 25.9
million acres of habitat and $1.2 billion in non-matching funds to affect
234,790 acres of habitat.
Additional information about the history of the ongoing efforts to
conserve North America’s wetlands and waterfowl can be found at
FLYways.us. The website provides waterfowl enthusiasts, biologists and
agency administrators with the most up-to-date waterfowl habitat and
waterfowl population information.

Anti-Gun Mayor Nutter –Outrage Of The WeekMAR 09, 2011 10:22A.M.
Anti-Gun Mayor Nutter – Outrage Of The Week
NRA - ILA
Charlotte, NC --(Ammoland.com)- This week’s Outrage comes to us
from the City of Brotherly Love and its Mayor, Michael Nutter (D).
Nutter is a member of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s gun
control advocacy group, misnamed Mayors Against Illegal Guns. We
recently reported on Bloomberg’s announcement that he had hired a
driver to tour the country in a large truck, towing a billboard claiming
(wrongly) that 34 people are murdered with guns each day.
Implying that there is a single solution to the entire problem of criminal
gun use, the billboard refers onlookers to Bloomberg’s
www.fixgunchecks.org website, which urges that federal law “require a
background check for every gun sale in America.”

As Nutter was waiting for the “Bloomberg Express” to pull
into town last week, he said that in his city, it is easier for
children “to get a gun than to go buy a book.” Seriously?
Since it is illegal for a child to buy a gun from a dealer, we have to
assume Nutter is referring to the chances of a child illegally purchasing a
firearm from the black market on the streets of his fair city. This is a sad
commentary on the city’s apparent failure to enforce existing laws.
To buy a black market gun, the child would first have to find a seller in a
dangerous street environment, and would have to come up with enough
cash for an item much more expensive than the average paperback. Not
exactly a safe, prudent, legal, or easy prospect.
Compare that to a child walking into a bookstore and plunking down
$9.95 for a book.
Making ludicrous statements, and trying to ride the coattails of
Bloomberg for his own political gain earns Mayor Nutter this week’s
“Outrage.”

and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the
