Albert Einstein Quotes on Spirituality
I want to know how God created this world. I am not interested in this or that phenomenon, in the
spectrum of this or that element. I want to know His thoughts; the rest are details.
Every one who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest
in the laws of the Universe -- a spirit vastly superior to that of man, and one in the face of which we with
our modest powers must feel humble.
There is no logical way to the discovery of elemental laws. There is only the way of intuition, which is
helped by a feeling for the order lying behind the appearance.
A human being is a part of the whole, called by us Universe, a part limited in t ime and space. He
experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest-a kind of optical
delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison, restricting us to our personal desires and
to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free from this prison by widening our
circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty.
Nothing will benefit human health and increase the chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the
evolution to a vegetarian diet.
The human mind is not capable of grasping the Universe. We are like a lit tle child entering a huge library.
The walls are covered to the ceilings with books in many different tongues. The child knows that
someone must have written these books. It does not know who or how. It does not understand the
languages in which they are written. But the child notes a definite plan in the arrangement of the books--
-a mysterious order which it does not comprehend, but only dimly suspects.
The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help
but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of
reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy
curiosity.
"To say that a man is made up of certain chemical elements is a satisfactory description only for those
who intend to use him as a fertilizer."
- Hermann Joseph Muller
"All we know of the truth is that the absolute truth,
such as it is, is beyond our reach."
- Nicholas of Cusa
"God will reveal to us things He never revealed before if we put our hands in HisThe thing I am to doand the way of doing it are revealed to me. I never have to grope for methods. The method is revealed
to me the moment I am inspired to create something new. Without God to draw aside the curtain I
would be helpless."
- George Washington Carver
"As a blind man has no idea of colors, so we have no idea of the manner by which the all-wise God
perceives and understands all things."
- Isaac Newton

"We are a scientific civilization. That means a civilization in which knowledge and its integrity are crucial.
Science is only a Latin word for knowledge... Knowledge is our destiny."
- Jacob Bronowski
Erwin Schroedinger (1887-1961), Austrian theoretical physicist, best known for his discovery of wave
mechanics, which won him the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1933, wished to see: "Some blood transfusion
from the East to the West" to save Western science from spiritual anemia."
"In all the world," writes Schroedinger in his book, My View of the World (chapter iv), "there is no kind
of framework within which we can find consciousness in the plural; this is simply something we
construct because of the temporal plurality of individuals, but it is a false construction....The only
solution to this conflict insofar as any is available to us at all lies in the ancient wisdom of the
Upanishad."
Julius Robert Oppenheimer (1904-1967) was a theoretical physicist and the Supervising Scientist for the
Manhattan Project, the developer of the atomic bomb. He studied Sanskrit with Professor Arthur W
Ryder (1877-1938) at Berkeley. He called the Gita the most beautiful philosophical song existing in any
known tongue.
Arthur Eddington: Not only is the universe stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can
imagine.
Galileo Galilei: The intention of the Holy Ghost is to teach us how one goes to heaven, not how
heaven goes.
Max Plancks words (Nobel Prize in Physics): We must assume that behind the world of
phenomena exists a Superior Mind. This Mind is the Creator of the Universe,
Luis Pasteur: In those supreme moments - in the deep of our soul - we have the feeling that the
world should be more than a mere combination of facts due to a mechanical equilibrium.
In 1929 Heisenberg visited India to give some conferences about quantum mechanics. Probably
that magic and mysterious country left a deep impression on the soul of this german scientist,
which some time later guided him to experience samadhi. Heisenberg died in 1976 in his house
in Munich, victim of cancer f the kidney and bladder. Paul Brunton informed that
When he was dying, Heisenberg said to von Weizscker, It is very easy, I did not know this
before. At another moment he said, I see now that Physics is of not importance, that the world
is an illusion. He passed away in peace.

"Overwhelming strong proofs of intelligent and benevolent design lie around us."
"I believe that the more thoroughly science is studied, the further does it take us from anything
comparable to atheism." [TLWT]
"The more thoroughly I conduct scientific research, the more I believe that science excludes
atheism."
"The atheistic idea is so nonsensical that I do not see how I can put it in words." [Source]

"The mystery of radium, no doubt we shall solve it one day; but the freedom of the will, that is a
mystery of another kind." [TLWT]
Michael Faraday
There is far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory for them who,
through Gods power, look not at the things which are seen, but at the
things which are not seen. For we are utterly insufficient for these
things, but the sufficiency is of God, and that makes it fit for His people
His strength perfect in their weakness.
"The most beautiful system of the sun, planets, and comets, could only proceed from the counsel
and dominion on an intelligent and powerful Being." Isaac Newton
And if God had not so arranged things that, under normal conditions of life
and health, the laws governing the changes in tissues and fluids of animals
bodies did not impede the proliferation of these microscopic creatures, we
should always be vulnerable to their inroads. -Louis Pasteur
Robert Boyle : "God would not have made the universe as it is unless He intended us to understand it ."
