SAPA buys aluminium extrusionbusiness in India

On 4 Mar 2011, Sapa ProfilesIndia Pvt Ltd entered into anagreement with Alufit (India) PvtLtd, whereby Sapa will buy theassets of Alufit related to itsaluminium extrusion businessoperated out of its plant inKuppam, close to Bangalore insouthern India. The transaction issubject to various regulatoryconditions, which the partiesexpect to satisfy in the nearfuture. The plant, which was builtin 2009, is an integrated one-press extrusion facility with bothpowder coating and anodizingcapabilities. “It is Sapa’s clearambition to establish a strongpresence in Asia. The transactionwith Alufit in India is an importantstep to realize this ambition.

Through this transaction Sapa willbe able to extend its productsand technical expertise to thegrowing base of Indiancustomers,” says Johan Menckel,Business Area President SapaAsia & Middle East. Sapa hasalready established amanufacturing plant for extrusionbased thermal managementapplications in Bangalore, andthe transaction with Alufit willallow Sapa to further expand itsbusiness in India. “We expectstrong growth in the quicklydeveloping Indian market.Customers are increasinglydemanding higher quality andmore complex solutions, whichSapa will be able to supply,” saysJohan Menckel. After thecompletion of the transaction,Sapa would be the first globalaluminium extrusion companywith local production facilities inIndia. Sapa is owned 100% byOrkla ASA.

Russkie Kraski activities in 2010

OAO Russkie kraski (Russia) in2010 sold dyes and paintmaterials to the value of Roubles3.768 M (15% more than in2009). Total production volumewas 32,274 tonnes including 45%water-borne coatings and 64%powder coatings.

Dover expanding Doverphos plant

Dover Chemical Corp, based inDover, OH, USA, will carry out asecond doubling of productioncapacity for its Doverphos S-9228high-performance phosphite bymid-2011. The company doubledoutput capacity for the polymeradditive in 2010. It is claimed toimprove processing of polymersused in various products,including powder coatings.
