1. Introduction to Vango AirBeam®

Successfully launched in 2011, Vango

AirBeam® is revolutionary in its design and

structure and is set to change the face of

camping! The tents use inflatable beams in

place of traditional steel poles for rapid

pitching in any environment. Pitching time

takes only 3 to 10 minutes depending on

the size of the tent and will be up and ready

to go in 4 easy steps. All you have to do is

take the tent out of the bag, pop a peg in

each corner, pump up the inflatable

beams and peg down a few guylines. It

really is that simple!

2. FAQ’s

Vango AirBeam® looks so simple, what is the catch? No catch, just simple, quick and easy to pitch!

Where can I find pitching instructions or videos?Pitching instructions are available for each type of Vango AirBeam® tent and can be found at vango.co.uk/airbeam-pitching-instructions.

Is it difficult to deflate and put away? The deflation and take down process of the Vango AirBeam® is very easy. Simply unscrew each valve to release the air and allow it to deflate quickly.

What size is the pump that comes with the tent? For all Vango AirBeam® models there is two different pump sizes. If you have a Flux, Velocity, Genesis, or Pulse then it will have a 1400cc size and for the Infinity, Kinetic, Eternity, Exodus, Evoque, Utopia and Shangri-La these will have a 2000cc size.

What pressure should I inflate my Vango AirBeam® to?You should inflate the AirBeam® to 7psi. If you have a 2011 model then inflate the AirBeam® to 3psi. A free upgrade to a 3rd generation AirBeam® is now available to all customers with a 2011 model.

What should I do if the pressure release valve on my Vango AirBeam® pump is not working, or releases pressure below the recommended 7psi?The pressure release valve is attached to all Vango AirBeam® pumps as standard to automatically release air pressure in excess of the recommended* 7psi for your AirBeams® (2012 models onwards).

In some instances the pressure release valve may prematurely release pressure at 5psi.

The pressure release valve is designed as a supplement to the pump's pressure gauge and is intended to provide additional peace of mind during the inflation process. Therefore, the pump can be used without the pressure release valve as long as the gauge is used to check when 7psi is reached.

Can I get a free upgrade for my 2011 AirBeam® outer sleeve?New Vango AirBeams® have been fitted with significantly stronger outer sleeves to withstand the daily rigours of family camping. These new outer sleeves are now available, as a free upgrade, to consumers who purchased a 2011 edition of the following Vango AirBeam® tent models:

Can I use any hand / foot pump to inflate the Vango AirBeam®? No, you can only use a hand/foot pump that fits the valves in the tent. Bicycle, car, foot and hand pumps will not normally fit and are not recommended.

Can I use an electric pump to inflate my Vango AirBeam®? It is very quick and simple to use the double action pump supplied. A specific AirBeam® pump is in development. No other pumps should be used as they may be too powerful and damage the AirBeam®.

Can I use a compressor? No, it is recommended to use the Vango AirBeam® pump supplied.

Can the AirBeam® valves be replaced? Vango AirBeam® valves are available from AMG Group Services (see the back of this booklet for contact details). The correct AirBeam® valve for each model will be sent out.

Can I get a replacement or spare AirBeam®? AirBeams® are available from campingspares.co.uk.

Will the Vango AirBeam® be able to withstand high winds? Yes, there are no poles to snap and all models use Vango’s patented TBS® II system for additional stability in windy conditions. These tents have been tested in extreme conditions in our wind certified test centre with speeds of up to 100km/hour.

Does the Vango AirBeam® canopy fit onto a caravan, campervan or motorhome? A Vango Air Away Awning range is being launched this year. The Vango Air Away is a drive away awning that uses Vango AirBeam® technology for rapid pole free pitching. More details can be found at vango.co.uk

In an emergency, how do I contact an AirBeam® Service Centre? In the event that you need to return your AirBeam® for repair, please contact the retail outlet where you purchased your AirBeam® tent.

If you require immediate assistance and are unable to contact your AirBeam® retailer (for example, whilst on holiday), please contact one of the AirBeam® Service Centres listed on Page 11. 5

3. Vango AirBeam® support & other information

Steps to check a deflating AirBeam®

(Any inflatable device such as dinghies, airbeds etc are all affected by temperature and humidity and should be regularly checked to ensure that they contain the correct pressure. If your AirBeam® is not maintaining the correct pressure, please follow these simple steps to resolve the issue).

A Deflate the AirBeam® fully by completely unscrewing both parts of the valve.

B Check the threads of all AirBeam® valve parts are clean and free from debris.

C Check the 3 black rubber parts within the AirBeam® valve are still in position.

D

E Screw in the base of the AirBeam® valve ensuring that no fabric is caught between the two parts of the valve.

F Ensure that the AirBeam® valve is screwed in correctly and not cross threaded (a small amount of Vaseline or lip balm can be applied to the valve to help the valve screw in easily).

G Inflate the AirBeam® to 7psi for 2012 models onwards.

Note: Velocity and Infinity tents purchased in 2011 should continue to use 3 psi.

I Screw the AirBeam® valve cap into position and tighten fully. It is crucial that the cap is screwed on as this fully seals the AirBeam®.

J If the AirBeam® continues to deflate then the inner tube should be removed and checked for punctures (see page 5 for instructions).

Note: Small punctures can be fixed using the repair kit included with the tent or Tear Aid patches (see page 5 for instructions). If there is a major fault on the inner tube then this can be replaced by AMG Services (email details of year, model and inner tube are required and contact details can be found at the back of this guide).

VANGO AIRBEAM® – PRESSURE GAUGE

How to check for punctures and repair the inner tube

K Deflate the AirBeam® fully by completely unscrewing the valve. Note: The pump cannot be used to deflate the AirBeams®.

L Unzip the outer sleeve of the AirBeam®.

M Remove the AirBeam® from the internal zipped sleeve.

N Cut the cable tie that holds the zips together (to stop accidental opening).

O Remove the inner tube from it’s protective outer.

P Put a very small amount of air into the tube to allow you to check for the puncture.

NOTE: Take care not to add too much air into the tube as the material can be damaged if inflated outside of the zipped sleeve.

Q To find a leak, check this by using a basin of water.

R Once the puncture is located then the area around this should be cleaned, ensuring it is dry, free from debris and grease.

S Carefully apply the repair patch over the puncture, and rub until it is fully stuck.

T Allow to dry for 30 minutes.

U Place the inner tube back inside the protective outer taking care not to catch the inner tube in the zip (if possible connect the zips together again, so that they cannot be accidentally opened when the AirBeam® is inflated).

V Re-inflate the AirBeam® to the correct psi level depending on which tent model it is.

W Re-insert the AirBeam® into the zipped sleeve on the tent flysheet.

Note: If there is a large puncture on the inner tube then this will need to be replaced (see the back of this booklet for contact details).
