Affiliate marketing means different things to different people.However in it's most basic sense it involves being rewarded forinitiating an action to take place. That action might be to clicka link, view an offer, or an actual purchase of a product.

The most effective way that I have found is to create your ownhub of operations in the form of a self hosted website andfollow a proven formula to create an avalanche of traffic.

Why have a self hosted website?

Simple... because you then control it.

The type of site that I like to use is a Wordpress blog site. It ispretty easy to set it up even for a non technical guy like me; Orif you choose, you can pay someone to set it up for you for avery minimal cost.

A blog site is really just an easy to use website. It allows you toadd content, or posts, to the site very quickly and easily withouthaving to know ANY technical stuff.

AND we have all heard that "content is king", so addingcontent is a good thing it is what generates the traffic you want.

So what content do we add?

The best way to answer that is to realize that the internetoperates on the principle of "search".

This means that anytime a person sits down to their computerand accesses the internet through a search engine like Google,they are searching for information. They are either tryingto solve a problem or simply looking for information aboutwhatever they have entered into the search box. And the waythey start that search is by typing a word, or a group of words,into the search box and hit the search button.

We do it all of the time.

The words that they entered are called keywords...or keywordphrases.

So how does this help to generate traffic?

Imagine if you could know what the people most likely to buyyour product,service or program type into that search box.

And then imagine that you create content for your websiteabout those words or phrases.

Then further imagine what would happen if that contentshowed up on the first page of the search engines wheneverthose words or phrases were typed into a Google search.
