Memorandum of understanding Between the International Coffee Organization (ICO) and African fine coffee association (AFCA)
AFCA & ICO Signed MoU in September 2017 at THE 120TH ICO MEETING IN COTE D’VOIRE
The promotion of technical and scientific cooperation in African coffee producing countries.
Key provisions of the MoU:
1) Improvement of statistical data;2) Country coffee profiles;3) Study and report on Coffee Sector outlook;4) Seminar, conference, workshops and topical trainings;5) Presentations to AFCA Conferences6) Designing coffee sector development project and
promoting joint fundraising activities7) Increasing Membership of the International Coffee
Organization
1. Improvement of statistical data
• Reach out to national institutions in charge of collecting statistical data
• A Statistical Workshop for African countries will be hosted in Kigali, Rwanda in February 2019.
The aim is to improve statistical data collection from African countries.
2.Coffee Profiles
The draft Coffee Profiles prepared:
i. Kenya
ii. Tanzania
iii. Uganda
iv. Rwanda
v. Ethiopia
The countries profiles for Burundi, Cameroon, DR Congo and Malawi are at the drafting stage.
