Society is changing. It is essential to increase community awareness of the importance of healthy lifestyles.
To address good health appropriately we must take into consideration improved quality of life, happier life
experiences, improved opportunities to make choices and decisions, and decrease sickness and
disability.
In order to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle individuals must develop a strong mental, social,
spiritual and physical sense of wellbeing.
PDHPE programs develop the knowledge, understanding and practical skills of students that
lead to better health.
PDHPE is an important key learning area within the primary curriculum as it:
Encourages an understanding and valuing of others
Promotes physical activity
Emphasises informed decision making leading to effective and responsible action
