Inspect Your PipingNJNG owns and maintains the natural gas pipelines and service lines that lead up to your natural gas meter. However, it’s your responsibility to maintain the natural gas piping after the meter, including fuel lines to your pool, grill, generator and the appliances inside your home.
We recommend a licensed contractor locate, annually inspect and, if necessary, repair your natural gas lines. Keep a copy of any diagrams your contractor gives you; they may come in handy if you need to call 811 for a markout – since markouts don’t include private fuel lines. Refer to njng.com/safety for the full scoop about 811.

Temperatures and Your Bill to go Lower Good news for your wallet. NJNG customers will see their bills decrease 2.5 percent. If your average annual natural gas bill is around $1,000 (based on 1,000 therms of usage), your bill will go down approximately $25. The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities approved a rate decrease for the winter heating season, as of October 1. A customer who uses 100 therms a month may see their NJNG monthly bill drop $2.53 to $97.89 cents from $100.42.
