(GRANT-FUNDED) ESL CLASS• This is a free 60-hour/12-week class for students who
score Level 0 on the ELS Placement Test, between Levels 1
and 6 on the BEST Plus Test and qualify under the
guidelines of the grant.

• Upon successful completion, they may advance to PREP.

FOUNDATIONS -
(PAID) ESL CLASS• This is a paid 60-hour/12-week class for students who score
Level 0 on the ELS Placement Test and between Levels 1 and 6
on the BEST Plus Test, but cannot take the grant-funded
FOUNDATIONS class because they do not qualify or because the
quota has already been reached.
• It is also available as an option for students who have already
taken the FOUNDATIONS class yet not successfully advanced to
PREP.
• Integrated academic and work-place essential skills curriculum
• Upon successful completion, they may advance to PREP.

(PAID) ESL CLASS• This is a paid 60-hour/7-week option for students who score
Level 0 on the ELS Placement Test and between Levels 1 and 6
on the BEST Plus Test, but miss registration for the 12-week
class. It is also run as a summer session.
• It is available as an option for students who have taken the
FOUNDATIONS class yet not successfully advanced to PREP.

(PAID) ACADEMIC ELS COURSE• This is a paid 48-hour intensive, academically focused
accelerated learning class for mid to high-beginner students
seeking entrance into the ELS credit program
• 4-week (16-day) sessions, 3 hours per day, Monday thru Thursday
(with some Fridays)
• Sessions held prior to and during each semester
• Integrated reading, writing, listening, speaking skills lessons
• Upon completion students enter the ELS credit program at the
020 level.

ELS program who receive a non-passing grade in any level
• Satisfactory portfolio, teacher recommendation & level leader approval are required.
• Intensive 2-week SECOND-CHANCE Workshop held prior to each semester.
