WHAT IS ALTOS DEL MAR SCULPTURE PARK?

ALTOS DEL MAR SCULPTURE PARK will display major works from internationally famous sculptors of 19th, 20th and 21st centuries in an outdoor park setting for the viewing pleasure of of everyone (local community and international visitors). Visitors will be free to recreate in the park while enjoying the sculpture installations and take part in the community programs that will be offered. The experience will be both fun and educational.

The proposed site is Altos Del Mar Park, located in North Beach within Miami Beach on Collins Avenue on the Ocean between 76th Street and 77th Streets.

The concept was created by Peter Saile, a North Beach resident and international art collector, by Gerrit Schulz-Bennewitz, a leading expert of sculpture parks and a frequent visitor of Miami Beach and with the enthusiastic support of North Beach residents.

We believe that the concept for the sculpture park would be the best use of the public property and will add a major cosmopolitan dimension to Miami Beach’s cultural image, its permanent scene of art and culture in a variety of ways:

A unique peaceful and relaxing environment on the ocean that can be ENJOYED BY EVERYONE. The first park of its kind on the ocean and located on a major street, Collins Avenue, directly adjacent to public parking and the planned beach walk.

Beautifully compliments the existing picnic park that is currently located on Collins and 79th Street.

Increase economic benefits to the North Beach community and its businesses. These benefits will spread citywide, countywide and statewide.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

Provides community services that will elevate education of our local youth and residents in the community through an aesthetic experience that goes beyond the traditional museum audience.

Is supported by the local residents.

From a county perspective, it will provide a positive impact on the identity of North Beach within Miami Beach and Greater Miami as a whole.

Will serve as an organization for high school and college students to complete internships or perhaps grow into full time positions when the park opens depending on their commitment and ability.
