Technology Department AD BHN 06 - Conclusion
11A. Newborough
• The BHN 06 magnet has the most severe signs of degradation after ?-years of the coils moving and is the priority magnet to be refurbished.
• If a failure is experienced during a run then the downtime will be in terms of months for the majority of users and much longer for ATRAP.
• The first spare coil has been tested at BINP, the second is nearly finished and will be tested by the end of September. Delivery is planned for October before the refurbishment starts.
• Bake-out is planned for the end of February, the latest date possible for the vacuum team.
• Giving the green light to the ATRAP today can gain an extra two weeks margin.13th September 2013
