Dear Colleague,
The American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Antitrust Law and theInternational Bar Association (IBA) are pleased to invite you to theNinth International Cartel Workshop, which will be held in Vancouver,Canada during February 1-3, 2012. The International Cartel Workshop, recognized globally as the premier international cartel program, ispresented only once every two years. Following the successful 2010program in Paris, the workshop returns to North America in 2012. We aredelighted that Canada will host this widely acclaimed program for thefirst time.
The 2012 program will continue the Workshop’s tradition of instructionby demonstration, with a faculty of 75 highly experienced attorneys fromaround the globe taking you inside a hypothetical international cartelmatter -- from detection by government enforcers to the disposition ofgovernment prosecutions and private damage claims. The Workshop willalso highlight new developments in the law and leniency practices aroundthe world, with leading enforcers and experienced private practitionersdemonstrating how critical decisions are made on both sides of the tableand providing examples of important interactions between counsel andenforcers. The 2012 Workshop’s international faculty includes many ofthe most accomplished cartel attorneys in the world, as well as the mostsenior cartel enforcement officials from a variety of jurisdictions.
As international cartel enforcement has become even more globalized andcomplex than even two years ago, the Workshop is evolving to account forthese changes and challenges. Among other enhancements to the 2012program will be the participation of more competition enforcers frommore jurisdictions. Confirmed participants include key officials fromAustralia, Brazil, Canada, China, the European Union, Japan, Korea,Mexico, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the UnitedStates. In addition to ten demonstration sessions comprised of 25different real-world “scenes”, there will be a roundtable of lead cartelenforcers from emerging jurisdictions, a roundtable of heads ofenforcement agencies, as well as a final roundtable focused on analyzingthe most difficult issues private practitioners face in handlinginternational cartel representations today.
We hope you will join us in Vancouver for this exciting event. Rememberthat workshop seating is limited and has sold out in the past. Soplease register and make your lodging and travel arrangements soon.
