The Scholarship
Makomborero seeks to identify suitable candidates capable
of university entrance to some of the more competitive
degree courses. In 2015 we will be offering up to eight full
scholarships to study A-levels at an excellent Harare based
private school and thus provide the chosen students with the
resources to achieve their goals where they may have fallen
short through financial hardship and/or not having access to
well-resourced A-level facilities in their current schools. As part
of the scholarship scheme the students will be expected to
assist with the on going community work in local Government
schools.
The scholarship will include:

Scholarship Eligibilty
o The scholarship scheme is designed to recruit the most able O-Level student. Potential
candidates must either already have attained (or be predicted) a number of A grades at
O-level.
o The final selection process will be completed by January 2015 and will be before the actual
O-level results have been published.
o It is expected that scholarships will mainly be awarded to students looking to study
Sciences (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology) or Commercials (Mathematics,
Accounts, Economics and Management of Business).
o From time to time, the selection committee may decide to award a number of scholarships
that fall outside of the strict academic requirements.
o Makomborero welcomes any application from government school students that feel
he/she can clearly demonstrate the passion and potential to achieve top grades in their
chosen A-level subjects.
Selection Process
o All applications must be received by the date stated on the application forms.
(September)
o Each application will be carefully considered and an initial shortlist drawn up. (November)
o Shortlisted candidates will be called in for an interview and scholarship testing. (November
and December)
o The final selection process will be completed before the O-level results have been
published, but in some cases we may wait for the results before informing the students who
have been awarded scholarships.
Please leave either your completed application form with your Headteacher or send a text
message to 0774 816 742 to arrange a drop off in Mount Pleasant (Pendennis Shops).
The Deadline for completed applications is 26th September 2014. Once we have drawn up an
initial short list we will contact you if you have been selected for interview/scholarship testing. If
you do not hear from us by 15th January 2015 please assume your application has been
unsuccessful.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this form.
