Black LandThe fertile land surrounding the Nile River was called the Black Land.

Red LandThe land outside of the Black Land was desert.
This land was known as the Red Land.
The desert acted as a barrier that protected Egypt as it was difficult to travel across.

The Sphinx and Pyramid of Khafre , located in Giza. Sphinx was carved from one large piece of limestone.

Egyptian Baker-Egyptians were the first to grind wheat into flour and mix it with yeast and water to make bread.
